Food is great, rooms outdated, service not that friendly and difficult to find English service. Would not recommend if you don’t like cigar or tobacco smoke which is everywhere, even in the restaurant side 1 person can destroy your experience.

If you want to be spoiled and pampered in the middle of the beautiful Blackforest then this is your place. From the moment you arrive it's pure luxury steeped in tradition. The rooms, service, food, everything was beyond perfect. Classic German hospitality!

Our second stay in Bareiss. Again we did enjoy our stay very much. Rooms are very large and comfortable. Nicely decorated, a bit oldfashioned, but very cosy. Excellent bed. Bathroom is nice but shower (corner model) shows its date: it feels a bit cramped. A walk-in shower would be nice. Breakfast is out of the ordinary: amazing choice, amazing quality. Diner feeled more refined than 3 years ago: we did really appreciate the fine cuisine. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The pool/welness area is amazing and very well maintained. We will certainly come back

My experience at Hotel Bareiss went far beyond my expectations; it was simply perfect! The dinners were sensational, and the Ayurveda massage I received was the best I have ever had. This hotel is truly outstanding!

My husband and I just spent five lovely nights at Hotel Bareiss in Baiersbronn. It was not our first visit to the town. We used to live about 45 minutes away in a town called Jettingen, and we liked to explore the Schwarzwald when we were living in the area. We still use a dentist in Stuttgart, which gives us the excuse to come back down to the Black Forest for quick breaks from our current home in Wiesbaden. I decided to book Hotel Bareiss after visiting Hotel Engel Obertal last year, and having lunch at the Bareiss owned Forellenhof Buhlbach. I knew that Hotel Bareiss was considered high class, and boasts excellent restaurants. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Hotel Bareiss, although it cost over twice as much at Hotel Engel Obertal did. Of course, Hotel Bareiss offers amenities that the other hotel doesn't, like a petting zoo, half board that includes delightful dinners, and an incredible pool and sauna area. I was especially charmed by one of the goats at the petting zoo, who was super friendly and cute! I also loved visiting the ponies. Staff at this hotel are very service oriented, friendly, and professional. However, there were a couple of minor issues. I know that wait staff pouring wine is supposed to be good service, but if the server isn't attentive and doesn't top up glasses, it ceases to be very impressive service. I would rather the wine not be held hostage, especially if it means hanging around after we're finished eating so we can finish the bottle. We had several servers during our five nights. One was very good about table maintenance and pouring wines, but the other was somewhat less so. All of the servers we met were polite and spoke excellent English. We also enjoyed the staff in the bar. We also noticed that a couple of times, turn down wasn't done completely. It was as if someone got distracted while doing turn down and didn't quite finish the job. I found the mats meant for the bedside draped over the desk chair. Of course, this was not a huge deal to us, but it was noticeable. And this hotel charges a lot, so our expectations are high. My last nitpick pertains to the letter we got on the last night. It was written in English, and perfectly understandable, but there were some basic grammatical and punctuation errors in the letter. I know that there are a lot of people employed at the hotel who speak fluent English, so it seems that someone could proofread the form letter in English and correct it. One should capitalize the word "dear", for instance, when writing a salutation. I'm sorry to be so picky, but again-- it's a problem that is very easily fixed and would make a better impression on English speakers. By the way, I would have been fine with getting the letter in German, since German is the local language! But if you're going to offer a goodbye letter in English, it would be good to have the form letter correct. Also, it would have been useful to have a pen in our room, to make

We stayed here in August 2022 to celebrate a private occasion. I've never experiences such good service, from check-in, to food to anything else. The breakfast bar is not just enormous, but also very good. There were over 20 (!!) different bread choices! The SPA areas is very nice. The massage could have been better. The room ("big Double room") was very big indeed (nearly 50sqm), with the very very minor comment that the light actually made some noise (which I never experienced before). I really hope going back there one day, I was rarely so relaxed after a hotel stay.

We stayed a week in Hotel Bareiss. The grounds, in particular the swimming pond are beautiful, when you are lying beside it, the close contact with nature is incredibly relaxing. Dragonflies and birds , beautiful plants and flowers, and sound of Church bells Are heavenly. It was so nice we hardly left the hotel,. The swimming pools and swimming pond are lovely to swim in , and never crowded. There is a beautiful nature park to walk in and ponds to sit by. Colourful flowers surround the hotel. The staff and owners are friendly and very welcoming. . They work incredibly hard with such good humour and friendliness . Food was excellent, great variety and very good on allergies. Visually everything was pleasing, beautiful salad, cheese and dessert buffets. We also had lunch in their trout farm , lovely setting, great staff and food. Staff in the dining room at night, were excellent, great service. If we could change anything it would be the wellness area, well kept but nobody keeps an eye on it, apart from changing the towels. Overall an excellent place to stay and would definitely return.

After 15 years of Bareiss (at least once a year), I have to get this off my chest. I have visited +30 hotels with 5* in the last 25 years, and yet almost everywhere you will find points that can be improved, such as service that is too slow, hygiene, vegetables undercooked, coffee too cold... Well, at Bareiss everything is just right. It's unbelievable. Everything is perfect, reception, kitchen in the 4 restaurants (half board restaurant gets +15 from me in Gault Millau), service top, best breakfast in Europe (until 11.30 am) etc... and above all the super friendliness of ALL employees, in a super cozy hotel that feels like a velvet chocolate. The international hotel qualification should be revised: then Bareiss would receive 6 or 7 * from us. Hannes Bareiss continues his father's work masterfully: the best gets better every year.
