Das Parkhotel

If you do not have any disability much of this review is not relevant to you. We visited elderly relatives in Germany and booked here as a place where we could all meet. In the UK there are disability laws that require hotels and restaurants to make their facilities open to all eg wheelchair access. This is not the case in Germany and so most hotels are not adapted. Das Parkhotel was no exception, access from the underground garage to the hotel is by way of steps. The front door has two steps. The access from reception to rooms involves another 6 steps before getting to the lift. Further away rooms involve yet more steps along the corridors. Bathrooms had few handles to help those who have difficulty moving about. The mattresses in the bed were very soft and low so made it difficult for disabled person to get out of bed. The spa area is also not set up for those who have mobility difficulties. Staff were friendly and tried very hard to make things comfortable including getting a room for our relatives that minimised the number of steps and bringing a spare mattress and plastic chair for the bathroom. Their efforts were 5 star but a disabled traveler should be aware that there are infrastructure difficulties that the goodwill of the staff cannot overcome. Overall from a fully able person perspective the hotel is comfortable and clean with a great breakfast and nice sauna/indoor swimming pool area. Our rooms which were suites were comfortable with a sitting area.

Excellent services, very good breakfast, very nice and helpfull staff. Hotel is really clean and the room is very comfortable and nice decorate. Outside you can enjoy the park. Spa is well equiped and relaxing. The fitness room is also well equiped. I recomend!
