My wife and I stayed at the hotel over the Easter weekend. The first impression was the thought, OK, it has flair and is impressive. Then, as the stay unfolds, you look at details and notice that a four-star cares typically about minor things, and then a gap appears in your mind. What works very well? The staff is friendly and helpful and when you have a question people can be found. The breakfast was delicious and included fresh baked goods, made-to-order egg dishes, various coffee styles, and fresh fruit. The room was large enough, and the bed was good, but the pillows, for our taste, did not work. The bathroom with a walking shower was large and clean, but the “rain shower” function from the ceiling did not work because it was clogged. The only real option is a hand-held shower device, and the position for hands-free showering is not height-adjustable. We made it work, but it was a detail no one considered. Turning on lights in the room or closing outside binds remained hit-and-miss the entire weekend. Someone in the past thought is was a cool idea to be high-tech and install touch sensors for light switches with multifunctional areas. Even with explanations on paper, it did not work easily for us. We did have a balcony with a lake view, and that was very nice. The sauna and pool areas were large but needed some LTC. The pool had touchpads like the room to turn things on, and only 1 of 3 worked for the pool. The jacuzzi touch sensor worked. The sauna had five areas with temperatures of 38, 40, 45, 70 and 90 Celsius. The two lowest temperatures had humidity of 50% and 100%, respectively. Our first day, the 45-degree room did not work. On the second day, the 70-degree room did not work. The 38 degrees did not feel like it was on at all ever. Only the 70-degree chamber had a temperature gauge. In this entire area, no “chill” music was on, so it felt uninviting to us. We did not use the quiet room, but it looked nice. The hotel location is excellent, and perhaps that is why it retains a four-star rating. In the past glory is was certainly that caliber. During our stay, it felt like a slightly neglected object needing more polish to make it shine again at full strength. Even without the shine, we enjoyed our long weekend.
