Hotel Sonngastein

Just fantastic.. it's a paradise for the kids. Mine(4 and 6) are really enjoying the HUGE playground and pools every day. And for us parents it's also a paradise. We can have our relaxing time, eat out the delicious dinner here with peace while the kids are playing. Will continue the review soon... Still enjoying this great place.

The Sonngastein is a marvellous, wonderfully equipped family hotel. It is elegant, clean, efficient and extremely comfortable.The food and service are superb. The Zitka family run a very tight ship and they and their staff cannot do enough for their guests. We have never seen so many facilities for children as well as an awesome spa. Almost every guest we met had been coming back for years, if not decades and I believe we will follow their example!

We had an amazing stay at Sonngastein. To be honest, I won't want to go anywhere else for holiday. From the moment you arrive, you get treated with such care. The food was delicious and there was not one thing out of place at this hotel. Everything was in immaculate order and done with the the utmost precision. One could definitely rest and feel at ease that it's a holiday that will forever be remembered.

We were looking for a family-friendly hotel in the Alps and it looks like we found just the spot. Everything from food, to facilities and staff has been perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Upon arrival they will lay out everything you need to know into the tiniest details. Having two small kids, the indoor playground was a huge asset; they spent countless hours there. What we were most (happily) surprised about was the quality of the food. Breakfast is extensive with several local options. Dinners usually consist of 3 courses. There were two evenings where they offered a buffet instead, which was, similar to the breakfast very extensive. In conclusion, such a hotel in such an amazing location is a perfect gem.

We have had an outstanding experience at Sonngastein. Truly exceeded our expectations. The hotel is rustic-chic, such that you find the mountain-resort-themed faux-fur embelished benches, but also the business-friendly leather couches corner where unavoidable emails can be peacefully addressed. There is a generous room catering for winter sports, designed with such meticulosity and comfort of guest in mind. The restaurant is elegant and comfortable, the service comendable, and the food wowed us literally every single day. There is also a lovely, low-light, cosy and romantic bar, with a generous list of cocktails we might enjoy even more extensively when we go without children :) Speaking of which, the play area is huge, like a hangar, with options for all ages. The split level hosts table tennis, air hockey and other games, while on the ground one may play football, basketball, jump on the trampolines, build a fort or pedal around on various vehicles :) The tennis courts were very well kept, as were the sauna and pools. The outdoor hot pool was the highlight of our ten day stay. We went there for skiing, and it was a great choice, but I can say we had just as much fun at the hotel in the evenings. And we only saw the indoor attractions :) it appears outside there are some great options as well. All in all, a very worthwhile choice, and we have a lot of experience traveling. It is a family business and this shows in the attention to detail and personal touch. We were sad to leave :)

Very nice hotel with excellent staff. The kids facilities are one the best I have ever seen and the food esd perfect. The location is a bit distanced from the ski slopes 10 min drive but the hotel offers free of charge a shutle to and from the nearest ski slope.
