This is something positively charming and divine about this hotel. The staff is very friendly, the room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. I eish I had had time to stay longer snd enjoy the surroundings of Bad Essen.

Comfortable rooms but chose the hotel for the restaurant which didn’t disappoint. Food and service was excellent as was the wine list. Breakfast was good. Had a single room which was clean and comfortable and seems to have been recently renovated.

Historic hotel with village charm
Friendly reception staff. The hotel offers a digital checkin process and reduced the amount of time to register. The hotel has ample parking and is located in a historic area near several attractions within walking distance, such as a nice historic water mill.

Auf meiner Fahrradtour entlang des Mittellandkanals verbrachte ich eine Nacht in diesem Hotel. Ich hatte nichts Besonderes erwartet, wurde dann jedoch von dem direkt am idyllischen Fachwerk-Marktplatz von Bad Essen gelegenen Haus sehr positiv überrascht. Im attraktiven Höger‘s Hotel könnte ich mir durchaus auch einen etwas längeren Aufenthalt vorstellen. Reserviert hatte ich ein Einzelzimmer Deluxe im Haupthaus. Dies erwies sich als (für ein Einzelzimmer) ungewöhnlich groß, angenehm hell und ausgesprochen modern, schick und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Besonders gefielen mir die Echtholzelemente, kombiniert mit in schlichtem Grau gehaltenen Mobiliar und dem Dielenboden. Die Einrichtung umfasste alles Notwendige: Sehr bequemes Bett, ausreichend bemessener Kleiderschrank, kleiner Schreibtisch mit gemütlichem Sessel. Topmodernes Tageslichtbad mit bodentiefer Dusche. Alles picobello sauber. Das Frühstück wird im modern-gediegenen Restaurant im Erdgeschoss eingenommen. Vielfältiges, qualitativ hochwertiges und sehr appetitlich präsentiertes Büffet. Positiv fiel mir insbesondere die große Auswahl an warmen Speisen auf: Neben Rührei mit Speck gab es beispielsweise auch Spiegeleier und leckere Nürnberger Rostbratwürstchen. Das Personal war höflich-korrekt. Hätten die junge Dame beim Empfang und der junge Mann beim Frühstück ein wenig mehr zugewandte Herzlichkeit gezeigt, hätte ich dem Höger‘s sicherlich volle fünf Punkte gegeben. Aber vielleicht ist man in diesem Landesteil typischerweise eher etwas distanziert und zurückhaltend.

Bad Essen und das Hotel Höher‘s waren uns bis vor einigen Wochen gänzlich unbekannt und wir hatten keine Ahnung, was uns erwarten wird. Der Grund hier zu sein war der Geburtstag unserer Nichte. Die Anreise war vollkommen problemlos und auch der Parkplatz war gut ausgeschildert. Beim Einchecken sind wir schon sehr freundlich begrüßt worden und die Geburtstagsüberraschung ist geglückt. Danach sind wir ins hauseigene Café, was eine eigene Konditorei hat - der Kuchen/sie Torten waren atemberaubend… Die Zimmer waren sehr geräumig und sauber. Abends waren wir dann im Restaurant, was eine eigene Bewertung erhalten hat. Das Frühstück am kommenden Morgen war super gut und sehr abwechslungsreich. Alles hier aus der Region und/oder selbstgemacht; die Apfel-Lavendel Marmalade hätte ich am liebsten mitgenommen. Auch die verschiebenen Süßspeisen im Weckglas waren perfekt. Wir können das Hotel sehr empfehlen!
