Hotel Sonnenblick in Pelham (village, 10-15 houses, nearest shopping in Bad Endorf, 4,5 km) is a very authentic Bavarian build, facing the Pelhamer Lake. At first glance, it meets or exceeds all requirements, as the friendly staff, and the large (Junior Suite, 40 m²) room with a balcony overlooking the lake is beautiful. Recently renovated and impressively finished with good materials and lovely furniture, kept on a high level of maintenance, not least by the flawless daily room cleaning. Lovely decorated restaurant serving a plentiful breakfast (typical German/intercontinental, with dairy, bread, cold cuts, egg, fruit and more plus a lovely coffee with the strength to get you going). Also lunch and dinner available (good food and plenty). So all in all high ranking, at a fair price. At second glance, however, some disappointing facts need to be shared: While rooms with a lake view also are facing the restaurant terrace, there is a notable noise from the up to the 100 people (with kids) dining. The terrace, along with the balconies, also serve as dedicated smoking areas, and you get a lot of tobacco smoke flowing up the facade. To an extent where your balcony becomes useless, -if you are not a smoker yourself. The road passing just outside the hotel has a 70 km/h speed limit and although not a huge amount of cars are passing, each of them makes conversation on the balcony quite hard. Add to this, that one neighbor is a cow stable 65 m away. Unless the wind carries away, you will enjoy the smell of cows and a fair supply of flies. Luckily the balcony and insect screen doors shut the noise and smell out very well, but it defeats the purpose of a balcony if you can't use it.
