Karlav was the perfect home for our holiday! We had a rental car so had the freedom to drive into Bacalar or we could walk if we wanted to. The place is a four unit complex next to the host/family home. The property is water-front with lots of areas to sit/lay and relax by the lagoon, the pool, the yard, gazebo, our room balconies. We bought briquets to BBQ, we cooked lots and used their complimentary kayaks and SUPs every day. It was an awesome value for the price. It's not five star but the place is well kept (not impeccable, for the discerning traveller) but it was perfect for our expectations of a clean place to rest our heads. The owners are lovely and super helpful. We would love to go back sometime. The lagoon is a very special place, and something to be protected. NO sunscreen is allowed to be worn in the fresh water. There are stromatolites right in the water front of our resort - it's a truly incredible place. Also enjoyed the resident dogs, Bruno and Camilla who made you feel very protected and loved.

We had a pleasant time in this place. Very good point for the room which is large and clean. The garden extends to the pontoon on which a peaceful atmosphere emerges. It also seems important to me to highlight the very warm welcome from the boss who is very accommodating. We were also able to use the kayaks for free to explore this magnificent lagoon. Negative points: - There is no swing in the water as shown in the photos, nor a hammock. - The villa is a little outside the city center (the taxi ride costs on average 50 pesos) otherwise it takes 30 minutes to walk. Conclusion: Very good value for money and perfect for relaxing.
