The beds were very comfortable, a variety of pillows, very clean rooms, friendly staff and good coffee. It snowed while we were there so we weren’t able to use the beautiful patio on the back of the hotel but it sure looked nice. We used the washer and dryer, very nice. Thank you

Very nice hotel, especially for a small town like Aztec. Manager was friendly and helpful and taught us a lot about the area. Morning breakfast was good and morning clerk was very friendly. Room was just what we asked for. I recommend this hotel.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The night manager of the hotel, Cliff Viegas, is an extraordinary human being without a shred of capacity for empathy, much less the ability to provide the reasonable customer service expected at even a one-star hotel. On our first full night at this hotel, my daughter and I went out in search of the ice machine, which I assumed might be found on the same floor as our room. Hence, I did not bother wearing a shirt—not typically a prerequisite for a short perambulation in a single-star establishment. Unbeknownst to me, the hotel’s only ice machine was located near the front desk, near Cliff, who started screeching like a banshee when he saw me, stating that not wearing a shirt was “not a good look.” First of all, why he cares what I look like in a near-empty hotel is beyond me, and second, I haven’t been told how to dress in 30 odd years. I responded that I would be happy to go back to my room and grab a shirt if he could provide us with a clean set of towels. In response to this reasonable request for clean towels, Cliff flew off the handle and threatened to call the police and have me arrested for not wearing a shirt, all in front of my four-year-old daughter. Now, as a lawyer, I was well-aware that Cliff had no grounds to have me arrested for neglecting a shirt on a stroll to the ice machine, but my four-year-old daughter did not. When we returned to the room so that I could get a shirt and return to the front desk for the clean towels (and the ice, which has been the original purpose of the sojourn), my daughter began to worry, thinking that her parents would be going to jail and that she and her ten-month-old brother would be left on their own. It took more than an hour to get her calm enough to fall sleep. Needless to say, at this point, we simply wanted out of Cliff’s flea-bag hotel, with its dirty towels, inattentive staff and apoplectic manager, so we promptly left the following day, demanding a refund of the charges for our remaining nights which we would have stayed had Cliff not traumatized my daughter. We only managed to get the refund through prompt and vociferous complaints to Comfort Inn’s corporate office. Save yourself the time and your kids the trauma of staying in this god-forsaken hellhole, run by beelzebub’s faithful servant, Cliff-the-night-manager.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! THEY ARE A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS!!! I wish I read the reviews before booking. This was the closest hotel to Aztec MX which was our reason for booking. The hotel owners are horrible. We booked two rooms with a total of 7 of us staying at the hotel. We had to ask permission to use the pool since it was padlocked. The owners yelled at my two older teen children when they came down to join us and they demanded to know the names of the children and which room they were from. The owner sat outside and watched us the entire time as we swam in the pool. The pool was freezing cold so we used the hot tub which was pretty cold as well. After about 10 minutes, the owner came and turned on the cold water to the hot tub as a sign he wanted us to get out. We were the only people using the facilities. There were only 2-3 other customers there during our stay. Now we understand why. The owners sat in the camera room and watched our every move the entire stay. Very uncomfortable. We also discovered dirty towels hanging on the back of the door upon initial entry into the bathroom in our room. I doubt they clean the rooms or wash the sheets. Then upon checkout, they advised they would return my cleaning/damage deposit of $100 which never happened. I had to dispute the charge with my bank to finally receive the refund. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR STRESS. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Apparently the mayor is aware of the problems at this hotel and has been trying to get these guys out for a while now. Do not stay here.

Surprisingly bad experience, probably best to avoid this hotel. My career requires that I travel, so I am a frequent guest of hotels. Typically I don’t have the opportunity to stay at Choice brand hotels, but options are limited in Aztec, NM. Despite reading some bad reviews before booking, I decided on the hotel for convenience and good prior experiences with the Comfort Inn in Durango. The two hotels couldn’t be further apart!! The first clue was upon arrival there were only 2 other vehicles in the parking lot. My wife and I gave each other a knowing look, and agreed to take the next step considering Aztec is a relatively small town - but definitely a red flag! The checkin process started normal, but quickly declined. The first issue, very very minor, but I noticed the amount that would be charged was greater than the amount from the reservation. The difference was very small, so I didn’t make a big deal, I just mentioned there was a difference and that it caught my attention. And so it begins! Now the front desk associate is triggered, and as I learned soon after, so was the proprietor who was listening in the office behind the front desk. The second issue was when I mentioned that I thought it was strange for the hotel to charge the full stay on my card at checkin, plus as a separate transaction to charge a $100 deposit fee, refundable upon checkout. I stated that I thought the procedure was strange and not consistent with other Comfort Inns. I was not confrontational about it, I simply stated my concern. Strike two against me; turns out a very sensitive subject to the proprietor. The next odd moment. From the moment of walking in, the agent seemed on edge, it seemed he was going through the motions of obligatory politeness, but ready to switch to battle mode. This created tension. While the agent was programming room keys, he asked, “are you a driver for Pepsi?” Pepsi has a distribution center near the hotel. I thought he was making small talk, and thought this was good to ease the tension. I engaged and discussed that I was just in town to visit family, and asked if the hotel received allot of business from Pepsi considering their close proximity. He looked at me with a confused look and gruffly said “no” - end of discussion. The final blow. After charging my card, the front desk agent seemed to relish the next step of looking at my vehicle, and then slapping a piece of paper on the desk with a policy. He said, “You cannot have anyone else in the room with you, only those listed when you made the reservation can stay in the room, our policy here says so!” I was blown away with the aggression and timing of his action. I asked, “so you are saying my wife and kids cannot stay with me?” He replied, “Yes, since you did not include them when you made the reservation!” Nice of him to alert me of the policy after charging my card. I would have gladly paid an additional fee for each member of my family, but this option was not given, and the a

The person at the desk has terrible customer service -- I will drive an extra 30 minutes to Farmington, we have stayed at the comfort suites in Farmington before and the service is way better. The reason we stayed in Aztec was because of convenience, so much for the that i refuse to stay at this location from here on out. Very disappointed

This is an excellent place to spend a night while traveling with your dog. The room was impeccably clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Unlike my usual experience, I didn't wake up with any back pain after sleeping on this bed! The breakfast provided was a standard grab-and-go option, neither terrible nor outstanding. Overall, if I were passing through and in need of accommodation, I would definitely choose to stay here again.

We booked multiple rooms at the Comfort Inn in Aztec, NM for a family wedding. Every room was spotless and quiet, ticking the most important boxes for any hotel stay in my opinion. Cliff, the owner and manager, was consistently present and pleasant, offering great service to those who showed him the same courtesy. We also spent a couple of hours at the newly renovated fire pit in the hotel courtyard, which was a lovely experience. Breakfast was hot and met expectations; although it could benefit from extending past 9am for those of us who aren't morning people. Initially, I had reservations due to some poor reviews, but my experience suggests that those were likely retaliatory. The only minor drawback was the limited number of convenient outlets, so consider bringing a power *****. Overall, I would not hesitate to stay here again next time I am in Aztec and highly recommend it.
