Used to live in Ayr so know the area well. Have been coming to The Burnside for over 10 years, great location near the seafront and shops and restaurants in town all walkable. Have stayed in most of the rooms over the years first time in room 5 at the very top of the house. Cosy with nice views of the Isle of Arran over the roofs of the houses opposite. Decent parking with permit provided, peaceful street. Very nice breakfast menu choice, good value for £7.50 paid in addition to room rate, nicely prepared. Great stay with new owner, thanks for having me again.

We recently visited Scotland and stayed at the Burnside Guest House in Ayr. The rooms were just what we were looking for - spacious, clean and comfortable. Paul was a wonderful host - friendly and helpful and our breakfast was really delicious!

Loved this Guest House. Travelled as a couple and check in was very quick. Room was lovely and faced into front with exceptional view of Arran. Breakfast 5/5 and great choices on offer. We opted for full Scottish breakfast, with orange juice and toast . Kettle, mugs with various coffee/tea/ milk and complimentary toiletries were supplied .Paul the owner was very knowledgeable and very friendly. Would Definately stay here again .

Stayed for 1 night as we were attending Streetrave at Ayr Pavillion. Friendly welcome and allowed us to leave our bags prior to check in. Very comfortable bed and lovely soft duvet, which was needed after 10 hours of dancing! Gorgeous breakfast and Paul was the perfect host. Will definitely be back if ever in Ayr again. Free parking.

This B&B is on a quiet street, 1 minutes´walk from the seafront. We had a large (triple) room on the first floor at the front, which was well equipped, quiet and with a large, comfortable bed. Paul, the host, is very friendly and the breakfast was very good. One room is the ground floor, with an external bathroom. Be aware of that when booking. If you are sensitive to the light when sleeping, then the blinds and curtains don´t shut out much light in summer, but that is the only negative point I can think of!

Situated on a quiet street near to the beach and promenade. Friendly welcome, very pleasant single room, lovely smelling fresh bed linen. Great ensuite. My favourite part was the breakfast, excellent ingredients and well cooked. Well recommended

It was the breakfast options which first drew us to Burnside, so let’s begin there. I love scrambled egg with smoked salmon, so was thrilled to see this on the menu. And the pancakes appealed to my husband. Neither disappointed. We were offered a choice of three different times for breakfast - they are keeping the groups at breakfast small in this Covid era, with the tables well spaced. But of course for other guests, the breakfast is not the only thing you may want to take into account! Arriving on a Sunday afternoon when it was very busy all along the seafront, we were still able to get a park across the street from Burnside; it was a simple process for Paul to write us out a parking permit to display while we were staying there. Room 3 was great - a large room with a pleasant space to sit and relax right in the bay window. The ensuite shower room also benefited from natural light flooding in through a large stained glass window at the front of the property. The wifi worked well - in fact we were able to watch the All Blacks v Springboks rugby match while sitting in the bay window late in the evening, which was a treat. The bed was comfortable and the street quiet at night. There is an extra single bed in Room 3, should you be travelling with three of you. We were within easy walking distance of the town and of a number of different dining options so we didn’t need to use the car at all. Lots of positives.
