Maxbe Continental Hotel

This hotel is situate in a beautiful edifice and serene environment but the staff were poorly trained with little or no supervision. I made my reservation for super deluxe room online via a phone call to the hotel's official phone line and was given a discount but upon arrival, I was told that although the reservation is listed but the discount will not be countenanced as the staff who granted me the discount has no mandate to do so notwithstanding she was their staff and the discussion was on the hotel's official phone line. If not that I arrived late at night, I would have left to look for another hotel. If you have any reservation and discount, I advise you make payment and get a receipt before arriving at the hotel. The rooms were cosy and beautiful, but the buffet breakfast had no variety, and the food easily gets exhausted. I usually go down for breakfast by 9am at which time I often meet near empty food court. It takes almost forever for the foods to be replenished so if you stay here, better go for breakfast by 8am. The wait time before a guest will be checked-in is also a cause for concern as it is unduly long. The front desk seemed confused. They need to train the front desk specially on check-in so as to ease the process. The lunch I had at the restaurant took a very very long time to come and the food was salty and had too much oil which was surprising since the breakfast was tasty. When I returned to my room and discovered that the housekeeper did not leave any tea bag, I complained to the front desk who asked that I call the restaurant. The restaurant re-directed me back to the front desk who bluntly informed me that there is nothing she can do since obviously the housekeeper forgot and has closed. She then asked me to buy tea from the restaurant if I must drink tea that night. Sadly, the housekeeper never kept a tea bag for me for the 4 days I stayed in the hotel which makes me to wonder why the tea kettle was provided in the first place. There was no bathrobe and slippers. A hotel of this class ought to have such accessories. In all, I was so disappointed in the services which falls far short with what is obtainable in the sister hotel at Enugu. Based on my experience, I doubt if I will ever stay here again as there are better alternatives within the vicinity.
