I recently stayed at the Kii Kii motel whilst in Rarotonga for a conference. The rooms are basic but large, clean and self-contained. They have a good sized fridge, microwave, cooktop, toaster and kettle. So if you are travelling on a budget, Kii Kii might be a good option. You can stock up from the market & shops and eat reasonably well in your room as restaurant options are limited. You can buy wi-fi (one device per voucher) for your room, or buy a Vodafone island wi-fi which works at a few dozen hot-spots around the island (but not at Kii Kii). Kii Kii is located right on the beach, but the lagoon, whilst pretty to look at, is unswimmable. It is quite nice to fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up to the sound of a rooster crowing. (Kii Kii has its own resident poultry). Kii Kii is about a 5-10 minute walk from the nearest convenience / grocery store, but there isn’t much else around. It’s ideal if you have a car as there is ample parking and Kii Kii is quite central; about 5 minutes to central Avarua, ten minutes to the beautiful Muri beach lagoon and about 10 minutes from the airport. The staff are friendly and helpful.
