Location was close to beach but far from Avalon proper where shops and food is available. It’s so close to the Stone Harbor shopping area that it’s more likely that is where time is spent. The bedroom area was well insulated for sound, but the seating area lacked a coffee table and I could hear the loud flush every time someone above me used the toilet. The bathroom fan was so loud, I thought about showering in the dark. Staff is friendly and helpful. Pool is so small there isn’t even room for a single umbrella which means there is absolutely no shade. Too hot to sit there otherwise. The small size meant there’s not much space to coexist with other families. Very disappointed I didn’t research better. It’s definitely clean, but I agree the bedding is subpar.

Been staying here for over 10 years. We always enjoy our time staying here. Only thing that has changed is not being able to get into changing rooms/ indoor pool until you have a room key. So no more staying later after check out and being able to change after. Maybe just a key card on pool doors would be better if not wanting ppl using indoor pool. However we left earlier this trip, so I can’t say if you can ask to use and if they will let you. They are very nice so I can see them letting you. Beds were comfy, room was clean, staff is friendly. We will continue to stay here for many years!

Extremely accommodating and responsive staff. Great location. Just a short walk to the beach and a few restaurants. About a 20 minute walk to downtown Southport. Some of the units are more updated than others. We had three rooms. Two were freshly updated and one was not. A good value. All were clean.

Our stay was wonderful. The accommodations were beautifully decorated and clean. The mattresses were very comfortable and we slept well! The service was spot on bringing fresh towels and straightening up our room. We will surely stay again.The Sockmans

We recently stayed at Desert Sands for a long weekend. We were appreciative that the new owner honored our gift card from the previous owner but were disappointed with room 103. It’s a bland room & looks nothing like the new rooms advertised on their Facebook page. It was very clean but plain. There was a high threshold going into the bathroom that seemed out of place along with a very low toilet. We’d probably stay there again but ask for a different room next time.

This stay was magnificent! The staff was super attentive and helped us with any little thing such as us not being able to figure out the shower. I went to the lobby for help and they sent a kind gentleman to help right away! He was in the room before I even got back helping my friend who stayed back while I got help. When my key card stopped working they fixed it asap! When they closed the outdoor pool to fill it with chlorine they directed us to the indoor pool! Amazing having two options for pool time. The stay also included beach tags which was amazing. Our stay was great and I would definitely return! The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient! The room was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. They even had extra blankets already in the room for our use to sleep with if we wanted! I can’t wait to come back!!

Our place was immaculate and comfortable. We walked to the beach for a leisurely stroll off season and were just minutes from Stone Harbor. We went to Cape May in less than a half an hour. The staff was friendly and helpful, particularly, Jessica. We had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a cozy living room. Would stay here again if the opportunity presented itself!

The room was decorated nicely. The shower design was great. The bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped. The lighting was great in each room. There was plenty of furniture to store our belongings. Friendly staff
