Sixth stay at Escandille in 15 years, three of which were in a professional setting. we appreciate the setting as well as the old-fashioned decor that this imposing 1930s-style building generates. so far the value for money suited us, the meals had rather improved with the added bonus of a nice pastry chef! the service was ok. the swimming pool, spa, hammam etc. are appreciable. bar prices are weighted. the view is great... the last stay (two nights) unfortunately went badly; first family reservation before Christmas canceled by Escandille because we missed a confirmation email. We had paid a deposit though, a simple verification phone call doesn't cost much... not nice! therefore obliged to quickly find another rental for 6 people including a baby because there were no more places available despite our having... difficult second try; we establish a project by telephone for six people but receive a file which no longer has anything to do with the choices established directly; forced to call again and start the file again... pffff finally the day of arrival; our building is surrounded by scaffolding; not great but hey, we were warned about this... no heating in our apartment. repaired within the hour but... small stones accumulate in the shoes... unequal staff relations; from very nice to a little rough or even weird; the service is sometimes a little "naggy" sometimes leaving us perplexed... I personally found the quality of the meal to have significantly declined; subjective? Problem of booking the hammam and spa, even though it was made first thing in the morning at the secretariat where we found ourselves duplicated with another group as embarrassed as us and fortunately friendly. it's not a good idea to discuss soaked and in swimsuits in the corridors to find an arrangement... unpleasant when you're there to relax or you're managing a group for 20 minutes... let's add the mattresses and cushions our bed who should have retired, people smoking in our premises... the boots are full... icing on the cake; the dog of a staff member who barks all day and evening because he is locked in a neighboring apartment, with denial from the owner and a very aggressive response from him when we try to calmly discuss it with him... unacceptable. we don't really seem to convince the director when we try to explain this amount of "little problems" to him. However, he offers us an aperitif and a possible commercial gesture; ok but that's not the aim and that was before the conflict with the dog's owner which ended up ruining this stay! Let us point out that we are not among the professional complainers and hate having to file grievances related to our stays. appreciating this place we only wanted to alert the establishment to its defects to be addressed and in particular organizational and communication problems
