Pro: superbly located, underground parking, very good breakfast Con: elevator broken, corridor carpets heavily stained (those in the rooms are fine however), and worst of all, mediocre WiFi (low signal strength in rooms and low bandwidth — in non tech terms, sluggish and drops off all the time). Dont expect to get any work done, or to confirm your flight, unless you use your cellular connection… at considerable expense. A modest investment would make this hotel sooo much better.

Stayed here one nigh in May on a road trip through Belgium and Germany along the 'romantic road'. Hotel is very central and just two minutes walk away from the Main square. The hotel is only five minutes walk from the Fuggerei as well. We were checked in by and incredibly helpful lady on reception who's name I can't remember but I believe she's Romanian. The hotel has space in an underground car-park but all the spots were taken so we were faced with finding somewhere else and carrying our bags back an forth. Luckily as we were checking in another guest was checking out early and vacating a parking space! The lady on reception came out to the car with us to see us safely into the carpark and then took us to our room :) Room was nicely furnished, clean and comfortable with two windows which opened on to the street at the side of the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and we'd definitely stay there again.

The Hotel Am Rathaus in Augsburg offers good, solid, if basic accommodations in a very central location, great to use as a base to explore Augsburg. It's about 15 minutes walk from the main train station. Rooms are modern but not "contemporary"or especially styled. Internet can be "up and down". Good, inexpensive laundry service. Room views are typically of side streets and alleys - good for privacy and noise, but don't expect to open your curtains to see the town square (which is a stones throw away). Staff are friendly and accommodating.

The hotel is well located, the staff very friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable and there is even a minibar in the room. Unfortunately, I found an extremely disgusting, grey and unhygienic, wide limescale mark in the toilet. This only happens when the room has not been cleaned properly for months. The bathroom was also very small. There is no real shower, just a drain on the floor and a shower curtain to protect a certain area when you use the shower hose. The last time I saw anything like this was maybe 30 years ago in Scandinavia. I came to breakfast at 9 and found just 3 identical wholemeal rolls. No white bread, no croissant, not even a slice of toast. And the eggs... all boiled rock hard. All in all, I would classify this hotel as a two-star accommodation, although the staff are really friendly. The condition of the accommodation, the furnishings and the breakfast only meet very modest standards.

Bedroom ＞20 m square and fairly large bathroom. “German design” furniture from the end of the 20th century :-), but…we’re in Bavaria! In any case, practical, the same goes for the bathroom where you don't have to look for where to put your things. Mini bar. Perfectly located hotel, very quiet little street. Charming reception staff and cleaning lady. Good breakfast, we just regret that there is no croissant! But therefore, we totally recommend! A stone's throw from the hotel, Ratkeller restaurant, typical dishes, beautiful vaulted cellar in the basement of the Rathaus.
