This was our second time staying here. We stayed in the top suite. Felt like it’s gone down hill. Never any staff about in the bar had to constantly go and get someone. Don’t know how to make Irish coffee cream was mixed all into the coffee, never been to a hotel that can’t make an Irish coffee. Dinner was a major disappointment completely overpriced and hardly any food. £9 for a bite size sticky toffee pudding. Mould all over bread at breakfast. Staff not that friendly either. Room was roasting, windows always left open. Bathroom taps were dirty and bath needed cleaned properly. Atmosphere was non existent and not like you can go and walk to somewhere as it’s in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn’t go back for the price, there’s much nicer places for less money. Couldn’t even complain as the receptionist was covering and didn’t even know how to check us out. Overall not a good experience

Beautiful hotel and the staff are lovely. The food was outstanding and the breakfast one of the best we have ever had. The spa area could do with a little tlc, it was a bit untidy but the private hot tub area made up for that. The only thing that ruined our experience a little was the noise coming from the room next door and across hall on the Saturday night/Sunday morning and the amell of smoke was vile ,

We stayed in this hotel to attend a wedding. From the minute we arrived everything was perfect! The weather was gorgeous meaning we could sit outside and have a drink in the wonderful gardens. Check in was quick and we were even able to check in a little earlier than planned. The room was huge! Bathroom was absolutely beautiful and the shower was so strong. The bed was so comfy too. We were really impressed. All courses during the wedding were really delicious. Breakfast fantastic too! We were talking about coming back before we even checked out. We loved that there was a fridge in the room for any drinks we had brought with us, although the bar was reasonably priced for a hotel and we ended up not going back to the room for a drink at any stage. The wedding room was gorgeous and the attention to detail from the hotel staff ensured the bride and groom had the best day. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay and/or a wedding. We had a great time!

We went for lunch on Mother’s Day with all the family and had a very disappointing meal in the restaurant. Slow service, cold food and over priced for the amount of food on the plate. I responded to the hotels email asking for feedback and the manager called me 6 days later. She was very pleasant and was very apologetic for our poor experience and as a way to compensate she offered me a gift voucher to use any time, any place in the hotel which was very kind of her. She said she would have it emailed to me. That was 2 weeks ago and I have yet to receive anything. Very disappointing customer service all round.

Treated ourselves to 2 nights here having experienced a great wedding in the function suite last summer. We were lucky enough to stay in the old part of the house, in a gorgeous room with views to enjoy overlooking two different landscapes. The gardens are also a delight. Dinner each night was tasty and excellent, and the staff deserve particular mention, always smiling and professional but with a lovely relaxed manner. The Thermal Spa was also great fun and good value at £10 per visit. A very well run place - we will be back.

Went on Sunday 27th for Sunday lunch and to consider booking a wedding reception as the wedding fare was on . On arrival the place looked warm and inviting but such a disappointment- we had made a reservation for lunch and we were seated quickly .. this is where it all went down hill . The host poured us a glass of water each and showed us menus - we quickly decided on our food and when the server returned we were asked to make our dessert order at the same time ( we unfortunately did not ) . I noted the table beside us were served their dessert before their mains - awkward but mistakes do happen so no biggie . The other table beside us who were seated minutes after us had worse service than us as I noted the lady asked at least 3 times to make an order .. poor .. my daughter had ordered drinks that never arrived even though she asked several members of staff .. when food arrived it was very good but no gravy boat ( had to again ask but it never arrived ) it took 1 1/2 hours to finish our mains / and exasperated we had to try to get out dessert orders .. I had noted other customers who had been much better looked after than us and a few others - perhaps they were regulars ? There was no consistency of service no ‘ how was everything’ and when I tried to order coffees was told there was a tea/ coffee station although I saw another table get lattes - we would have happily paid but were not afforded the opportunity.. I would nor recommend Sunday lunch and I would not even consider making a wedding booking ( which we were there to do ) the food was good but like previous customers have said the service is diabolical- the young girl who took out payment never asked if we had enjoyed out experience/ meal and when we checked the bill to see if we had been charged for the missing drinks she half heartedly said sorry .. no ambiance no professionalism poor service won’t be back - such a Shame so disappointed

Food nice. Staff very unpleasant felt like you were more of an annoyance to them when ordering drinks at the bar. Ignored for long periods even though it was not busy. Definitely would not take my family here again. Did not feel welcomed. Nice surroundings but not a enjoyable place felt tense.

Pros Comfortable beds, Damien and another restaurant server (didn’t get his name) were lovely, nice food at breakfast. Cons Room was filthy when we arrived, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned (see attached photos). We spoke to a manager and they offered us another room in an older part of the hotel as they were fully booked. This room was dusty and had stains on the bed and flies began to appear in the bathroom. No towels were provided in the bathroom and no robes or slippers. The biscuits provided were out of date. There was a noise all night that sounded like a boiler turning off and on, so we got no sleep. We then moved back to the original room the next day, after it had been cleaned. As we entered the room we got the fright of our lives when a member of staff was standing right in front of us. Reception called to check on the room, I said we would stay the night but it still wasn’t clean. The kettle was dirty, the grout in the shower was still stained yellow, stain still on the light switch. Flies also began to appear in this bathroom also! No safe or mini fridge in any rooms other than the suites. We ordered lunch to the room and there was hair on both of the dishes. Understaffed in every department, spa, bar, restaurant, reception. Hotel very run down, windowsills broken in hallways. Wallpaper ripped off walls. Lift very dirty. The spa was small. Staff stressed out, couldn’t get a hold of anyone for queries. No coffee pods or teaspoons in spa relaxation room, I had to walk around looking for someone. Steam room door gets stuck so be careful! Initially we were only offered 20% off the bill which we did not believe was good enough considering the horrible experience we had. We were then offered 50% off but safe to say we won’t be back. I wanted to love this hotel but sadly it cannot meet basic standards for a two star never mind 4.
