5 stars is not enough. Booking Chateau d'Audrieu was the best decision, and unquestionably one of our favorite parts of our 10-day trip around France. About a week before our arrival, I called the hotel to ask about bedding and was nervous because I don't speak French. I believe it was Fabien with whom I spoke. He immediately (and warmly) spoke to me in English and assured me that the beds are excellent quality and very comfortable. When we arrived very late, Nelson was so kind to run out to us and help us with our luggage. He gave us several tips on how best to enjoy the Chateau what to expect during our time in Normandy. He then walked us to our room. It was incredible. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels, but I don't think I've ever been as charmed by a hotel room as I was by our Junior Suite. The ceilings have to be at least 15'. The hot air balloon decor was so pretty. The wood floors were beautiful, the bathroom was very modern, and the bed was very comfortable! Everything was perfect. One thing I want to mention is the personal attention to detail. When we first arrived, there was a bottle of wine, a welcome note, and a jar of cheese crisps. Over the course of our stay, we didn't really eat the cheese crisps. One day when we came back from our outings, I noticed that they had placed a new jar next to the bottle of wine, with butter cookies (having noticed that we weren't eating the cheese crisps.) Another such moment was when I had taken a small bottle of apple juice from the mini fridge. It was delicious, from a local orchard. Later that day when we arrived back at the chateau, a larger bottle had been placed in the fridge. I should mention that these items were a gift and free of charge. I know I'm giving a lot of detail, but I used to work at the Ritz Carlton; these acts of attention were trained into us as something guests should expect from a 5 star hotel. But not all luxury hotels are created equal, and to be honest, I haven't seen it much over my years traveling. However, I was very pleased to notice it at Chateau d'Audrieu and was very appreciative. We never had a chance to eat dinner at the Michelin star restaurant, Le Seran, on property, however we did have breakfast each morning and the food was very fresh and delicious. I had a delightful avocado toast each morning and my husband had a custom-made omelet. He requested some sort of hot sauce. They didn't have any on hand, but went out of their way to make one with a special type of chili pepper. Alexandre Le Grand, Nazar, and another man with blonde hair (I wish I had gotten his name), were so kind in serving us at the restaurant! Everyone at the hotel whom we encountered was lovely and kind. Nelson, Fabien, Alexandre Le Grand, Nazar, Anna Marion, the nice blonde gentleman, (and one other lady whose name I didn't get)...thank you! You truly raise the bar for kindness, hospitality and luxury. We can't wait to come back again.

This is my second visit to the Chateau, the first was with my parents 15 years ago, and this one was with my son and another family. If you are going to do the D-Day sites this is for sure the best place to stay. Deauville may have better hotel options, but the drive is onerous, especially as you will be spending a fair amount of time in a car getting to the beaches, cemeteries, museums. Concierge services are excellent. Gardens are beautiful. The rooms are cleverly laid out if you are traveling as a family. Well-appointed ,though I would say a bit dated from my last visit. You do not need more than 2 nights here as it is quite remote. The bar menu, which is the only option for food for lunch or for a casual dinner, is not very robust and a bit disappointing. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant this visit as it was fully booked and we could not get a table. I think for a remote hotel not having a table for a hotel guest is not great. Hotel has fantastic WW2 history so that makes it quite special. A pool, ping pong table, donkey feeding, bikes and Petanque provide entertainment.

Beautiful restored chateau and very nice personnel. The concierge provided excellent recommendations for dining and the staff was lovely. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning kept the room nice and cool. Very large bathroom but with unpredictable pressure and heating/cooling. The hotel bar is very small and the breakfast options were very disappointing. The property is 15 minutes from town. While it is lovely, it isnt what one would expect for a 5 star resort and wouldnt be somewhere we would return.

My third stay in three years and this hotel continues to get better and better - and that did not seem possible! Truly a treasure. Our group of nine women loved our rooms, the incredible food, and the grounds - but the staff makes Chateau d'Audrieu stand out as an exceptional property. One woman in our group has severe and complicated food allergies. Chef Samuel and his team made sure all of her meals were safe and incredible! Another woman in our group unfortunately got sick for two days during our stay. The staff took such great care of all her needs. Although I have stayed here three times and plan to go back - the Chateau is one of those "once in a lifetime" properties that you will remember forever.

This is a remarkable place to stay; the staff is excellent and the property is absolutely lovely. Everyone at the Chateau treated us like royalty, anything we needed, we just let them now and they responded right away. If we're ever back in Normandy we will plan to stay again.

We were greeted warmly and we loved our room, the service was also very good, we did have a little issue on the first day, but this was rectified for us, there was another little hiccup the next day but they sorted it too, they were very apologetic and they looked after us very well. We had afternoon tea one day and dinner both nights and the food was beautiful and tasty. The breakfast was also very good and great value for money with a lot of choice, the dish of eggs, bacon, mushrooms and spinach was just what you needed for breakfast, along with lots of local cheeses of course. The Donkey key rings are also very cute, shame they didn’t have any to buy, maybe next time. Would we stay here again? Absolutely we would 🤩
