Swara Acacia Lodge

I recently visited to scout for event space, where I had a generally positive experience, but an incident at the gate marred my stay. Upon arrival, the guard did not stop me or inform me about obtaining a gate pass. After my visit, when I returned, the guard shouted at me and demanded an apology for not having a gate pass, which I was unaware of. Despite my efforts to explain and show him the gate pass I received from the lodge, he refused to look at it and verbally abused me. This behavior was unacceptable & unprofessional, significantly impacting my overall experience. I suggest improving communication about gate pass requirements and providing training for security personnel to handle situations respectfully and professionally.

The customer support representative talked to me really badly when making an inquiry the eventually blocked me, Definitely never a place I'd want to visit or anyone I care about to visit!!Really really sad those are the people representing the lodge!

I recently went to Swara Acacia Lodge as a surprise trip organized by my boyfriend and it was amazing. I enjoyed the entire experience from the food, the service and the serene natural environment. If you're looking for a place to relax away from the city and enjoy the natural environment then this is definitely the place for you. I have to mention that we were here during off season and also during the week and the service was exceptional with great attention to detail. From the moment we checked in, the staff was really amazing to us. They made sure to call us before meals to confirm what times we would be at the restaurant for meals; they also provided hot water bottles to keep us warm every night and always checked to see if we needed anything. They went above and beyond to celebrate us as we were celebrating our anniversary and we felt so special the entire time. We also spent some time doing archery and going out for nature walks and we were accompanied by a staff member who was so professional and knowledgeable during these activities. Our room was so pleasant and I loved how everything is made from natural materials so there was no need for air conditioning indoors. Also loved the cheetah theme in the room and the fact that the room was kept clean during the day and would be sprayed every evening to protect from mosquitoes and bugs. In addition to everything, I met the tailor who sews everything that is sold in the shops and she was kind enough to take my measurements and custom make some pants for me with the materials that I picked out. Everything was completed on time and made so well. Generally, our entire stay was pleasant and with great attention to detail. Based on our experience, my boyfriend and I definitely agreed to go back again and try all the other activities that we didn't end up doing. I would advice anyone to plan ahead and call ahead of time before going. Also, definitely try to go during off season and on week days if you love to enjoy some quiet time without many guests. Again, I really enjoyed my experience and can't wait to go back again another time! ❤️

I was excited to finally visit this place so when I finally made a reservation for lunch I was happy- it was short-lived though once I reached. The disappointment! The service! The Service! The Service! The staff wasn't warm, friendly or hospitable. I literally had to keep juggling my own drinks to different tables because I was with a toddler who wanted to swim and play and noone was there to assist (or I was being ignored). Finally when I got assistance it came with almost a scolding of how I have put a jug on an unstable table and it can break. I was busy requesting for my water not to be taken away and that's the response I got.( How would a guest know about the table especially if they've been ignored all through?) Anyways I read the mood soon in enough and when I wanted to leave I had to wait 30min for my bill. Finally I was told by the waiter to go get it in the reception because he doesn't have it😒 I had planned to spend a night or two with my son but changed my mind after the experience. Giving it 2 stars- one for the ambience because we got to spot wildebeests just chilling within their compound and two because Godfrey the head came to apologize to me when I was leaving after I explained my experience to the reception which I thought was really good of him. P.s if you are planning to swim with your lil ones note there's no designated baby pool area in what looks like a temporary pool. So you will have to enter the pool with them as it's deep for the one's who can't yet swim. It was also full of dead bugs in the water and there was no towels offered (first I've ever experienced anywhere) so carry your own towel.

A pristine natural environment in the wild conservancy of Athi River, in the outskirts of the City of Nairobi. No concrete jungle. Serene environment with natural sounds of flora and fauna. Occasional glimpse of wild antelopes and other species in the nature trail. Great rooms made of natural materials, a really organic hideaway for conferences, individual reflections and family bonding. Great staff members too: respectful, courtious, efficient and highly professional. A place to be, away from the concrete jungles and noises of urbanisation. Breath taking.

The Swara Acacia Camp has many advantages over many similar places and it’s hard not to keep going back once you discover it. Located on Athi Plains the camp is a short drive from Nairobi City though it still give visitors a glimpse of a safari owing to the reasonable numbers of animals and birds that roam around and the beautiful plains. Everything about the camp ranging from the rooms to the meals is authentic besides being fairly priced.

We decided to go for new year’s lunch (a family of six) and were pleasantly surprised by the serene and beautiful environment. However, the service from the waiters was very poor. Initially we were seated in the sofas (waiting area) but were not told whether they were preparing a table or… after 15 minutes I went to talk to the supervisor to find out what was going on. She promised to give me an update in 5 minutes. After another 15 minutes (now 30 minutes) without anyone coming over I again went to ask what was happening. At that time we were assigned a waiter (after 30 minutes) he came and took our orders and found us a table. We waited for 2.5 hours before our entrees were served! The main meal came about 20 minutes after that. To make matters worse I found a fly in my salad - see picture! During the 3 hours wait I googled Trip Advisor and found a number of reviews about many flies - I saw many flies around the kitchen area. On reporting the fly and long wait to the supervisor she mumbled something about being pulled to some other duties… no real apology… SMH. At the end of the ordeal I was charged the full amount for the food - no offer to waive one dish to amend for the poor service as any decent restaurant would have offered. The one redeeming aspect was the waiter we had, Nicholas Nduta, who apologized profusely and did his best. The waiters need training on communicating with customers - good communication and updates would have turned this negative experience to a positive one.

We enjoyed ourselves while at Swara over Christmas. The staff were charming and very helpful.Rosemary at the reception was on top of things. Meals were great and a good variety. They also had kids minders at the playground and kids activities.We loved the bonfire at night Downside The rooms were a bit old for that price point. They didn't change towels daily ,though once we asked for them to change they did so. The person minding the bonfire had to be called every time to adjust the fire. I hope they can also get a real pool in future!
