Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Atascadero

After reading other reviews, I was a bit skeptical about staying here. Yes, it is a bit outdated but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was quite courteous and there was actual housekeeping service which most other places no longer offer. This was one of the least expensive places to stay in the area and I would absolutely book here again. Good value.

Great experience. Location is not scenic but very convenient to freeway. Rooms are spacious, we had a junior suite overlooking the pool. Bed was comfortable, shower new, decor is modern and beautiful. Breakfast is better than most of this type. Would definitely stay here again

I am a Marriott titanium member and my husband worked for Marriott for 27 years. The Fairfield in Atascadero, CA is the worse hotel we have ever stayed in. The property is newly renovated and if this is Marriott’s new concept for Fairfield, it is a complete failure. Our first room was an “upgrade” on the first floor with sliding glass door to the pool. The gate to the pool area from the parking lot is un locked all the time. We did not feel safe. The WiFi at the hotel is terrible, intermittent or dial-up slow. Cell service on the property is no better. The water pressure was just above a drip in the shower and faucet. The breakfast area is far too small. There was no seating available. I went to the breakfast room at 8 am and there was minimal hot food available. There were 2 pancakes left, 2 slices of barely cooked bacon and some cold hard boiled eggs. We went out for the day and were expecting housekeeping service. We purposely took the do not disturb sign off the door and placed our towels on the bathroom floor. When we returned about 6:30 pm, the room wasn’t cleaned. I called to get new towels and was hung up on twice. We also complained about the open pool gate and were told it would be addressed next week. We asked for another room and were told we couldn’t move because we had used points for the room. REALLY? If you use the benefits Marriott rewards you for your loyalty you are not treated the same as a paying guest? Unacceptable. The GM, Anthony also basically called my partner a liar. Anthony told him he was stocking the breakfast room that morning and there was plenty of hot food available. We were finally moved to a 2nd floor room. The ceiling in the shower was moldy and looked like it had a leak from the room above. We did not want to move again but did alert the front desk of the once-again unacceptable room condition. She came to the room to see for herself and stated she would make a note of it.

The hotel is incredibly understaffed however the room was clean & comfortable. Pool looked clean and hotel appeared fairly new. They were sold out so we got a different room than we reserved which was ok. If you expect breakfast dont reserve this hotel as there was very little food. No juice , yogurt, cereal, etc. The one staff person that was there continuously was very apologetic.

Clean rooms and facilities. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Would stay again
