This resort is amazing. We went for our honeymoon after spending a few days in Cape Town. The service was thorough and impeccable - all waiters were attentive to our every need, housekeeping left the room pristine, and the food was delicious. We went scuba diving and the guides were great. I had issues with my ear after the dive and the resort gave me some ear drop medication. They truly thought of everything. Oh also, it is breathtakingly beautiful.

Island is beautiful, resort is great, adjoining beach villas worked so well, food was very good particularly breakfast and lunch, and the activities available really made the holiday - diving, fishing, dune boarding, watersports, football, etc Special mention to Diogo, Juma and Isaac for looking after our children (and us) so well on our dives

The resort claims to be a 5 star property but it’s run down and, while the staff are lovely, they are poorly trained. It’s not fully inclusive in that many drinks are for charge and most excursions are extra. This makes the expensive price point not worth it. The management are not proactive on stocking the room fridge with desired beverages and does not inquire at check in as to what you’d enjoy. The water off the coast of Mozambique is gorgeous and snorkeling good but this spot needs a major overhaul to be 5 stars!

I highly recommend Anantara Bazaruto Island. We had an amazing stay. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived till checkout. There are plenty of activities to do: snorkeling, diving, safari, sand boarding on the dunes, cooking class, horseback riding on the beach and much more! You will not get bored at all. The food was delicious and fresh.

Out stay was excellent! The property is beautiful and the staff incredibly friendly. We really loved exploring the different lounge areas and enjoying the view. All our meals were excellent, especially the local seafood. The tours are highly recommended! We did the sand dunes tour and took in a beautiful sunset while sand boarding. And the snorkel day trip gave us a chance to se a different island and ended with a private bbq lunch on the beach. It felt very luxurious! Anantara offers a great blend of relaxation and adventure, all delivered with impeccable service. It was the perfect getaway!

I have to admit, I am not a morning person, so having the lodge face West, meant that I could enjoy spectacular sun sets over the sea between the mainland and the lodge. I love that the beach units alternate one forward one back which enhances your privacy. Clearly the lodge is ideally positioned with the imposing sand dunes on the east coast and the immaculate white sandy beach which stretches for miles. The high/low tides being a different but interesting challenge so remember to bring slops or shoes you don’t mind getting wet. The staff are super friendly and keen to assist anytime. Perhaps lean a few Portuguese phrases to make your interaction a bit easier. We made use of the 6 hour visit to Paradise Island and were treated like royalty - give it a try. Although there are quite few mozzies, it is not a Malaria area, but do bring anti-mozzie spray. The beds do have mozzie nets.

We took a helicopter from Vilanculas to Bazaruta island, so felt like complete rockstars from the start. Achingly beautiful scenery. We loved our island hideaway and all staff were warm and welcoming. Beautiful fruit basket and bottle of wine welcomed us. Sunset cocktails on the beach are a must. My birthday dinner was very memorable - special table on the beach, amazing seafood buffet, birthday singing and cake to end the magical evening. Another highlight was scuba diving 2 Mile Reef with divemaster Juma - dolphins, turtles, shark and the most beautiful tropical fish. Plus a stop on Pansy Island to look for shells! Finished by the best lunch - prawns and snapper! Fabulous evening entertainment at the club, with a Greek themed buffet rounded off another amazing day in paradise. Thanks again to Haylee at Barefoot Breaks for everything! You made our trip the best!!
