My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. We absolutely loved our time at this beautiful place. Alicia was wonderful and so welcoming. The breakfasts were amazing!! We stayed in the Camellia room—its gorgeous. This is located close to everything. I can’t say enough good things about our stay here. A big thank you to Alicia for helping make our anniversary so special.

We went for a weekend stay but unfortunately our time was cut short. I would still say that this inn has several things going for it. We enjoyed the baked goodies provided. We choose the Holly room for our stay. I would describe the room as cozy, comfortable, and intimate. The bed was as goldilock said, "just right" but even better for me was the shower with the adjustable handheld nozzle. There is a terrace just outside this room which provided an excellent place for morning tea. Breakfast was filling and satisfying but the server could've been better dressed. The innkeeper was pleasant and accommodating. A nice inn for a weekend away but I do have one bit of caution for any travelers. If you have problems with climbing steps and stairs you will have about 10 to 12 steps to enter the house from the outside and then stairs up the Holly room. The concrete steps were a bit of a challenge for my wife.

We had a wonderful stay with Alicia at the Black Walnut Inn. The Inn is beautiful and well located to Asheville. Our room was delightful and full of character. We truly appreciated the 5 o'clock happy hour which was a excellent touch! Breakfast was delicious too. Our host Alicia, the owner, was attentive and informative. Love the coffee machine btw! We took a short 3min walk to 9 lives Restaurant and enjoyed axcellent food and local beer! Overall, a marvelous stay! Highly recommended!

We decided to try something new for our anniversary this year, and opted for a relaxing vacation in picturesque Asheville, staying at our first bed & breakfast. I found Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast Inn randomly on some article about top places to stay around the US, and I’m so incredibly grateful I did. From the moment we arrived, a charming, well kept house, manicured grounds with lush grass and beautiful hydrangeas in front of the large front porch. A gravel driveway leads you through the porte cochere, where you can unload your luggage and then continue on to the parking area between the main home and carriage house. As soon as we rang the bell, Alicia greeted us and immediately made us feel welcomed and at home. She had treats out already, and coffee and tea, and gave us a mini tour and showed us to our room. Everything about the house is stunning, from the floors to the moulding, colors, decor, all impeccable. We stayed in the Walnut Room, and it was so lush. Beautiful seating area, extremely comfortable bed, the curtains, the furniture, every detail you can tell has been meticulously planned. From chocolates waiting for us on the bed, to water bottles on the vanity. The room was extremely clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable! One of my husband’s favorite parts, she had portable fans available for guests! He loves to sleep to the sound of a fan, she thought of everything! There was even a shower cap with the toiletries, which I was so thankful for because I forgot to bring mine. Expect to be spoiled every morning with a multiple course gourmet breakfast, we literally started our day every day so content! From lemon zest pancakes, to egg soufflé, homemade biscuits, yogurt parfaits, turkey sausage, everything was delicious. I couldn’t believe she was in the kitchen making all this from scratch, but you can definitely tell everything was so fresh! The attention to detail and the service, absolutely immaculate. Oh and did I mention the evening happy hours with beer and wine and homemade treats? I couldn’t get over how delicious her homemade chocolate and marzipan biscotti was, so she made me some to take home and typed up the recipe for me!!! Alicia is just a super woman, she was made for this. I cannot wait to go back, and to bring our pup next time, because if this place wasn’t top notch enough, they even have a couple dog friendly rooms!

My wife and I visit Asheville frequently and this was the first time that we have stayed here. We absolutely loved it! Alicia (the owner and inn keeper) could not have been more hospitable. The room was great and the food was even better. The inn is very close to downtown as well. We will definitely be back!

FANTASTIC midweek getaway! Alicia was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The Black Walnut Inn is stunning and full of history. Our room was gorgeous and extremely comfortable. The little added touches in the room were also very nice - water and toiletries (which smelled great). We enjoyed Happy Hour each evening with fresh baked goodies. The living room and the front porch were perfect places to relax before heading out to dinner. Coffee was available via a fantastic machine that ground the coffee beans freshly and allowed you to pick from espresso to macchiato to americano. Pottery coffee mugs with the Inn’s image on it were out to use. Breakfasts were not only scrumptious, but they were also beautifully plated. We enjoyed our stay so much. We weren’t ready to have to say goodbye. Alicia, thank you for an amazing stay. We will definitely be back!

Our stay at the Black Walnut B & B was wonderful! Set back among the trees in the Montford Ave neighbourhood, the Inn stands proudly apart from all other structures in the neighbourhood. The grand entrance is positioned beneath a covered portico. Wide (original) steps bring you up to the lovely porch, quite long, set with comfy rockers and tables. The main entry door is here which opens into a foyer with a sitting and dining room beyond. Guests normally gather in the sitting room to chat among themselves sharing the day's adventures. The grand dining room showcases a very long, lovely table set with china for the morning breakfast. Alicia, the Owner, and Host, is always on hand to ensure that your stay meets your expectations. She is also the chef, preparing from scratch, her breakfast dishes that differ each morning, a delight to experience. Our stay had us in the Black Walnut Room. We used the fireplace each evening as the month of October brought some chill to the area. Warmth from the fireplace filled the entire room which made for good sleeping. Quiet was the norm here as the neighborhood did not produce any sound other than the occassional birds flying about and the leaves falling to the ground! Subtle sounds from the bubbling water fall and pond out back was quite tranquil. A rustic parking area is positioned just behind the Inn. A short walk from the parking area leads to the front steps of the Inn. Soft (retro) Jazz vocal and instrumental music can be heard via (concealed) speakers in the dining room and porch which supplemented the ambience of this well cared for Inn. Major highway connections are easily found within a short distance from the Inn as well as the Downtown area of Asheville. We dined at a different restaurant for dinner each evening and found them all to be very good. The Inn carries a wealth of printed information for both dining and sight-seeing all of which we used. We highly recommend taking the Hop-On-Hop-Off trolley tour of Asheville as well as a tour of the Biltmore Estate. Driving the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway was a wonderful experience and not to be missed! There is so much to do in Asheville yet the Black Walnut Inn will continue to be the focus point of our trip due to it's comfort and the care we received from the Owner, Alicia.

Alicia was the perfect hostess during our 2-night stay - nothing was too much to ask. The rooms are well appointed and cozy, the common areas are welcoming and the special touches are great. Happy hour commences promptly at 5pm, coffee and soft drinks are available any time as as snacks, but the piece de resistance at Black Walnut is the outstanding homemade breakfast in the morning. The food is delicious and abundant. You will not need lunch later that day!

The Black Walnut Inn Bed and Breakfast was absolutely wonderful,. The house is truly amazing and was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The food at breakfast was fantastic. It is easy to get there from the Interstate. I would highly recommend the Bed & Breakfast for couples wanting to get away.
