Moxy Asheville

The pictures on the website missrepresented the size of the room and the configuration of the beds. The room was extremely small, the queen beds were positioned foot to foot, very strangely, with uncomfortable padded furniture in between them. The heads of the beds were far from looking at the TV so it was hard to see the picture since you had to see it from a difficult angle. The pictures on the website had the beds side by side even though there are very few rooms like that. The beds barely fit into the room. There is no closet (you have to hang your clothes on hooks on the wall) and no private enclosed area to use the sink. There is no dresser. Of the 4 nights we were there, the maids cleaned the room only once. There is no desk aside from a little tablet area on the chair. There is a junky collapsible table hanging from the wall. The management obviously tried to use all possible ways to cut down the size and quality of the space and to hide that by making it cutesy. In addition, the swimming pool and exercise area are shared with the hotel next door, causing a long walk to get there--of course none of these cost cuts were even mentioned on the web site. Who are you kidding?

Pulling in the parking garage, it's hard to navigate. You have to go on the Block so you're facing the right direction to pull in. Then you get to walk to the hotel and go down several stairs carrying your luggage, not real clear where you check in, which is at the bar. Super friendly staff. However, you do get a bottle cap good for a free drink. In this case, it was a craft cocktail. I was more of a spritzer and was not very good at all. The room reminds me of hotel rooms in New York City uncomfortably small no place to put your luggage hooks on the wall very small bathroom. The air conditioner in the room is very noisy on and off all night long. Rooftop restaurant is closed on Monday evening as are a lot of restaurants in the area. I much prefer a traditional hotel and room.

I was in Asheville for my girls' weekend birthday celebration. The Moxy was perfect for my group. It definitely had an artsy, eclectic vibe that provided a unique feel, unlike an ordinary hotel stay. We loved the design of our king bedrooms. The place is neat, clean, and comfortable. It's a cool spot that didn't disappoint.
