天空の城として名高い竹田城に行きたいと思い、近くのホテルを検索していて見つけたのが、「竹田城城下町ホテルEN」です。結論から言うと、なかなかのお値段のホテルなんですが、満足感の高い素敵なホテルでした。 このホテルは、もともとは「木村酒造」という酒蔵だった建物をリノベートしてつくられました。いくつかの棟が建っていて、それぞれの棟がフロントとその周辺だったり、レストランやラウンジだったり、客室だったりします。 私たちの客室は一番狭い（？）部屋だったと思いますが、レストラン棟の屋根の上には竹田城（夜はライトアップされていました）が見えるんです。 夕食は、そのレストランでのフレンチのフルコースで、ここでの食事もとても素晴らしいものでした。 私たちがホテルに到着したのは午後２時半。チェックイン前に荷物を預けて、ここから駅裏登山口を登って竹田城に。帰りは表米神社登山口を降りるコースを通って、およそ２時間でホテルに戻りました。
