We visited for the night just before Christmas. They were tidying up the entrance hall from a wedding the previous afternoon when we arrived around 1pm but did apologise for this and gave us a complimentary upgrade of room. The room itself was large and spacious, very comfortable bed and more than cool enough even without air con. Overall the room was tired looking, as was the bathroom where the spa bath didn’t work, and could do with a revamp. The house is beautiful as are the grounds and we really enjoyed sitting under a shady tree with a yummy cheese board and bottle of wine. Dinner was really lovely and totally worth indulging on! After dinner complimentary port was a great touch. Staff were friendly and welcoming, though not many of them for the amount that was going on.

There is so much to like here… Our room (a spa upgrade) was comfortable and spacious. The house is a delight. But we did not experience the warm welcome and orientation reported by others here. We were the only guests, had booked for dinner but were advised the previous day that the chef had been called away. We were given the breakfast menu, given no orientation to the place, not offered a wine tasting. There was no suggestion they could light the fire if we would like it. We felt virtually banished to our room and that we were an imposition staying there. The next evening staff were far better, lighting the fire (now one other couple in residence, who told us they could not get a booking the previous night!) and wine tasting offered and organised, but the damage was done. Breakfast was OK but nothing special and service again was inept. BTW the light meals offered when there is no restaurant were in no way appealing. I recognise the current challenges in the hospitality industry but think that Peterson’s needs to invest far more seriously in some training and development when hiring inexperienced staff. We had been recommended by two different friends to stay here and I would consider staying again, but would seriously hope not to receive the same inept and unfriendly. And perhaps to even try the restaurant which was one of the reasons for our going. I did try corresponding direct at the time, preferring to deal with issues at the time with the people who can do something, thus allowing for some corrective action, but response was slow and received only after we had checked out.

On a recent trip up north, we stayed here on our last night. This booking included a cooked breakfast. Also option for 2 or 3 course evening meal. The staff were very welcoming. Showed us the dining room, and separate breakfast room, of this magnificent historic house. Our room was spacious, with a large bed, small table & two chairs. Did have a small fridge, and coffee/tea making needs. Bathroom was really good, with a walk in shower. Loved the place, but would have preferred to have a couple of small armchairs, to watch TV. There was enough room. In the afternoon, we sat in the huge hall area, where there were numerous sofas, and armchairs. The open fire was lit for us. Meals were very good, we included a 2 course meal for our evening meal option. The gardens were lovely, but needed some TLC, as lots of weeds.

We had a fabulous one night stay, two rooms for my partner and I and elderly mother. Gorgeous old building, stunning gardens and grounds. Beautiful dinner; the included breakfast was hearty. Good sleep in a very comfy bed. Can recommend their wine while sitting in the grand hall with the two open fireplaces! We would love to return.

Lovely hidden gem in the New England Area of NSW. Spent a night and had gorgeous steak dinner and my partner had barramundi. Cannot fault the service or food. Accommodation excellent and old worldly. We had such a good time. Breakfast included

Just taking a quick little solo trip out of Sydney to the marvellous guesthouse and brilliant restaurant at Petersons Armidale. This wonderful place never ever lets you down. The grounds are sublime, bedrooms so elegant showcasing the Edwardian magnificence of the original house design and the food simple perfect. Not to mention the wine. On the way up I stayed to the back roads and went though some amazing county. If you are want to treat yourself to sublime food jump in the car and head North West.

We had a beautiful stay at Petersons Guest House. The room was clean and very comfortable, the bed was a dream to sleep in. The cooked breakfast was a real treat and was delicious. We had our evening meal in the restaurant, it was spectacular! We cannot fault Petersons at all, it was amazing and will definitely be staying there again and have already recommended it to friends .

I arranged for a re-union with my brothers and sisters and their partners in October 2023. We booked out the entire house. Pre-trip planning was a breeze because Penny, the General Manager was so helpful. My family were delighted at an amazing venue. Perfect for a get together. Rooms amazing. Grounds fantastic. The staff were top notch. Couldn’t be more helpful! The chef is brilliant - one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. I (and my siblings) highly recommend Peterson’s Armidale Winery & Guesthouse!👍👍👍😁😁😁

We have recently returned from nearly a week in Armidale and were fortunate enough to stay in this beautiful guest house. We were both badly in need of a holiday, having not had a break since January and were tired out when we arrived. On arrival, we were met by a lovely staff member, who greeted us warmly and helped us unload the car and showed us our room and then also offered us a tour of the house and grounds, which we were happy to accept. (We found all staff to be friendly and helpful throughout our stay.) We'd already booked in for dinner that night and were able to confirm the time we wanted to eat - we then had the opportunity to select from the dinner menu, which I think is one of the differences between a guest house and a hotel. The dinner menu is small, but impressive. The chef, we were told, enjoys mixing it up a bit and also plans for the number of people dining in that night when selecting what will be served. On the occasions we dined in, we found the food to be delicious and attractively served, with some great wine options to go with the food! Petersons offers a dinner menu, for which you pay extra if you want to dine in, but breakfast is included in the price of your room. Breakfast there is a little basic, but I think this is fine, as it's obviously prepared by staff on duty at the time and they do their best to meet any special requests (eg berries only, low fat milk etc). Breakfast is served in what is designated the breakfast room, which has a beautiful view out over the gardens. Dinner is served in the dining room, or you can also eat your dinner on the verandah (under the fairy lights, which we chose to do on our first night there). Our room was spacious and looked out over the gardens. Some rooms overlook the car park, which is fairly small and so it isn't that big of an issue, but we were glad to be overlooking the gardens. The walls of our room happened to be painted the shade of blue I most like, with artwork of hyacinths and irises to match (flowers I love), so I found the room both beautiful and soothing and I always enjoyed walking into it. And I just loved the bathroom - so attractive and very well provisioned with everything from toiletries to make up wipes. The underfloor heating was very welcome on our last night and morning there, when the weather suddenly turned very cold. We did a lot of walking around the property - you can walk around the gardens and the adjoining grassy area leading to the vines. The gate to the vines is often left open and you can also walk among them. We elected not to do this because a sign warned of snakes in the warmer weather (which I'm terrified of), but we walked around the other areas. We also sometimes enjoyed reading and relaxing in the gardens (tables and chairs are provided for this) or in the common area indoors, which has exceptionally comfortable lounges and chairs for this purpose. You can also sit on the verandah. Wine tasting is available and you can also ask for
