We had Sunday lunch in this hotel, the food was lovely, hot,well-cooked and plentiful. The hotel itself needs dramatic renovation to bring it to standard. I understand it has just achieved 3* status, which I feel is the bare minimum in today's society, trying to attract guests who expect higher standards. The service was fine, as there was only my table and another one in the dining room.

4 of us arrived for food. Asked the bar person was toasted sandwiches still being served to which we where told yes. After 55 minutes of a wait and watching people eat that arrived after us we got told sorry the kitchen isn't doing toasties now. Never have i received service like this before anywhere.

Visited on St Patrick's Day , 1 of the directors or so she told me, was obnoxious, rude and totally unprofessional, I think she taught Basil Fawlty everything he knows. If your a visitor from outside Armagh please be assured this woman does not represent the friendly and welcoming folk of our wee city Avoid at all costs ! Avoid at all costs !!

Worst experience. Imagine telling a 93 year old woman with mobility issues that you’re not serving them because they mentioned the toilet seats were broken. Part owner, someone Foster?, blonde, short hair, you need to get some people skills. Told that if we didn’t like the broken toilet seats to go elsewhere and then refusing to serve her A 93 YEAR OLD WOMAN WITH 2 WALKING STICKS AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

We are frequent visitors to Charlemont Arms and go to the hotel every year as a Christmas treat. The food is always really good. However every year there is a problem with getting into the dining room as opposed to the bar area. To make sure I rang twice to ask that we were in the dining room and was assured we were in the dining room. However On arrival we were told the dining room was fully booked and we had to go into the bar area which was extremely noisy and full of revellers. We asked to speak to the manager and she refused to come out. We could clearly see the dining room had free tables. So disappointing. We won’t be back very poor customer service.

We hadn't been to the hotel in many years and decided to revisit it as it was handy to where we were. The surroundings haven't changed in many years and look very dated. We went to the bar, which was very quiet. The barman was very friendly and helpful. The pate was very nice but unusually, served in a bowl and served with a packet of butter. The main course was delicious and well-cooked.

We were visiting family nearby and needed a base for the week. I'm very glad that we chanced upon the Charlemont Arms when researching on-line. We stayed for 6 nights in total and ate evening meals on four of them. The food was excellent, and of very generous proportions - my wife couldn't eat all of her roast dinner on one occasion purely because of the quantity. Some reviews on here have criticised the breakfasts. Pay them no attention. Every morning the cooked breakfast was well cooked, fresh and hot. There were also cereals, toast, yoghurt and fruit juices to choose from. All of the staff that we had dealings with were friendly, courteous and helpful. There were one or two minor items in our room that needed some attention, but nothing to detract from our enjoyment of the hospitality. Like others, I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
