Having a GPS Garmin is almost required to find the place although, once on the route you will find it OK. The place is quite amazing really. It is built with ecology in mind as the lodges are not fancy nor heated. Nights get a bit cool there so a nice hot morning shower is great! Food was a short walk to the lodge and very good. The people/wait staff were wonderful! We took the drive down into Fish Canyon, second largest on earth, and loved it! We saw wildlife, zebra and ostrich among others. Saw elephant tracks as well. Really great time although too short.

Oh. My. Word. Be prepared for the views of a lifetime! From the lodge, from your room, from the walking tracks. Breathtaking. The road is long and rocky in( we had a4x4) but absolutely worth it as we arrived too a special branch of heaven. The staff were so friendly and helpful, all the food was spectacular- the big surprise was a freshly baked cake in the afternoon! Stayed 2 days. It was heaven

The hotel was beautifully decorated with a stunning pool view on the Canyon. The independent, spacious villas had outdoor showers and offered breathtaking views of the canyon. However, 5 out of the 6 family members suffered from severe food poisoning after dinner, supposedly from the meat. For an establishment of this caliber, this is truly unacceptable.

Location is superb with spectacular views. Rooms are spacious and clean. There are a few items that would stop me recommending based on the cost. 1. No air conditioning making it uncomfortable in restaurant at dinner and in the room 2.No internet while we were there. Apparently common occurrence. 3. Dinner menu no choices apart from meat/fish or vegetarian. Other lodges provide choices. 4. Many restaurant staff but not all focused on the guests but rather talking loudly. Observation - Hangers great concept but not practical for hanging trousers or skirts.

Fish river lodge fascinated me a lot. Coming into the main building after the long drive on gravel roads just makes up for everything. The view out of the main house is just absolutely mesmerizing and I catches myself looking out there and thinking it looks more like a paining than the real world. The staff was great and made us feel very much welcomed. We had great activities like biking and driving down the canyon. We had a great time and an even greater night under the stars. Love to come back some day!

Very nice location with wunderfull views. Rooms are dated and very bad isolated! Very noisy at night and also very cold(no heating system). Diner is very simple with low cost food. Breakfast serves only toast and coffee from a coffee machine. Toaster and coffee machine are very slow so you have to wait every time you want to use it! So beside the location you have the impression of staying on a camp site. If there were other options to visit Fish river canyon I would take them!

We stayed for 3 amazing nights. Property is so remote. Long journey on decent gravel road, last 19km is more challenging. Our tyre blew 3km from lodge. We had to walk for help, the lodge sent help and changed our tyre. The lodge is set in a tray magnificent location. Main lodge is very stish and has amazing views. Rooms are well appointed and again have amazing views. The wind is extremely noisy so you need to use the earplugs provided. Food is good, choice is limited, they are flexible. Staff friendly and helpful. Excursion to bottom of canyon a must do. We would happily return
