The hotel is ok. Simple rooms but clean. Beach is small and there is an on-off smell of sewage in the hotel and on the small beach. What brings the hotel down is the horrible breakfast. Not eatable at all. Eggs taste of frying fat, bread is dry and the rest just isn’t good

We stayed here for 10 nights sep/oct. We had a partial sea view room which unfortunately had a huge tree in front of the balcony so the sea view was very partial - this isn’t a complaint however. The reception staff on arrival and in general never seemed happy, they weren’t rude to you but the more you smiled and said hello to them the smilier they were back to you. Our room was a twin despite asking for a double - again not a huge issue but the pics we saw of the hotel rooms when booking looked nothing like what we had. Fridge in the room was ok and handy to have. The rooms were clean and comfy and the cleaner that did our room was called Maria - she was so lovely an absolute asset to the hotel. Always smiled spoke and chatted to us. The breakfast was ok fair selection but if you were down about 9.30 there wasn’t much left - should really be catered properly for up to the time of 10am as stated. Food quality was fine I found. Only really used the bar and pool snack bar once or twice but can’t fault that either. Armando was always helpful. Pool was ok but the usual occurrence of reserving sunbeds took place - wasn’t an issue really when we went as we got one but don’t stay by the pool all day every day anyway. The hotel inside around the reception area is a bit tired the sofas and chairs look really dirty and put me off sitting on them. Hotel outside could do with a spruce up with paint etc. overall our stay was comfy and pleasant but I’m not sure I’d class this a 4 star. You have to pay for air con outside of July and august but this is stated when booking. Also a charge for the safe which is usual for most places and the tourist tax is payable. They take your passports off you at arrival and you only get them back once this is paid so we paid immediately for ours. There are also cats roaming around the hotel everywhere. This didn’t bother us as we love animals but could be an issue for anyone with an allergy. Enjoyed our stay here overall but a few minor tweaks would make me say a 4 star

Zakantha beach hotel is excellent friendly superb location right on the beach According to previous “reviewer” that was blocking the half of the pool area with sunbeds chairs and lilo nobody else could sit by the pool. The beach bar was fantastic as always Armando very professional and friendly fantastic service as always seeing he works all day and night .The same goes also for the reception, always helpful. Enjoy your holiday and do not judge other people on what they do we have been coming here for years and never been disappointed.

Having read the reviews prior to going to this note, I was, a little sceptical as I understand you can’t please everyone. However I will try to be brief but bear with: Staff - 1 receptionist in particular was very rude and abrupt which got our backs up straight away - she worked early morning. Rooms - ok but very tired and needed updating massively…the shower in particular- which in the middle of the bath as opposed to being on the end so when you were in the shower, you banged elbow or arm on the shower bracket..the water was tepid at best. Breakfast was ok, quite a lot of choice but the drinks were poor….orange squash as opposed to orange juice. The milk was vile which made a cup of tea undrinkable. Mainly the hot food was warm at best. The pool area was not big enough for the size of the hotel…I am not a lover of sitting on the beach all day and paying 10 euros for a set of sun beds bumps up the price of your holiday and was not prepared to do it. My biggest gripe was the barman, Armando. His wife/partner also works at the hotel as a waitress and he would not only would he save her a sunbed by the pool everyday, when there aren’t enough to go around anyway, but he also had ‘guest friends’ there too and he would save them beds too as he would be there late at night, it’s easy for him to do so, and these friends would not come Dow till after 10 am and would then disappear into the pool bar at lunchtime and stay there for the rest of the afternoon which to me, is infuriating. Didn’t think staff were allowed to save us beds. Also, there are not outside toilet facilities near the pool which meant you had to trapse into the hotel reception area. Argassi itself was a little disappointing in my opinion. Definitely not a 4 star hotel and will never return.

Excellent hotel with lovely gardens, pool area and easy access to the beach. Great snack bar open until 6pm when the hotel bar opens. Excellent choice of food at breakfast- the hotel does not do evening meals but there are plenty of local restaurants nearby. Rooms a good size and bedlinen/towels changed mid week. Suggest you pay for the air conditioning as the road outside it can get quite noisy at night if you have the door open. All staff really helpful and speak English.

Pros: Great location right on the beach. Nice grounds with sunbeds, which we always managed to get when we needed them. Nice pool bar on the beach front with good range of drinks, snacks & light meals. Beach is good & the sea is shallow for a long way out & sandy bottom, no rocks. Not sure what other reviewers on here saw, but I found the beach to be very clean. It's the sea -expect there to be a little bit of seaweed! Staff very good. Again not sure why other reviewers criticise the staff but I found them to be polite & helpful. Cons: Rooms a bit lacking in storage & no tea/coffee making facilities. Shower is above the bath & on the side wall, not the end which makes it awkward. Hot water non-existent, warm at best. Safe costs 3euro/day. Wi-fi a bit unreliable. No toilets by the pool or outside snack bar so you have to trail all the way past reception to use the ones inside. Breakfast not great, same every day & not the choice I would expect from a 4* hotel. Bacon was some sort of reconstituted affair, sausages those small cocktail things & the milk was undrinkable; I think it was probably soya or something similar. Overall: Not a 4* hotel.

The problems started at check in. We had stayed twice before and both times had been allocated roadside rooms. We were travelling in quite a large group this time, so emailed the hotel requesting a sea or pool view. The hotel responded by saying they could not guarantee a sea view but assured us we would not be on the roadside. On arrival a bunch of keys for 9 rooms were thrown at us. A total dereliction of responsibility. All 18 passports were taken together. I have only given 1 star because of Armando behind the bar who was excellent and fun. The rooms were clean but dated. A broken pedal bin in the bathroom, which is far from ideal in Greece. A TV that didn’t work. We were woken at 8 every morning by shouting cleaners outside our door. The worst was to come when we came to check out and pay the room tax. Reception had lost our passports. They asked us to check if they had given them to our friends. When we told them they didn’t have them they became aggressive towards us. I told them they had no right to give them to anybody but us. After 30 minutes they found our passports and had the nerve to ask what we were getting frustrated about. Disgusting attitude and incompetence. I will never stay here again.

This hotel is fabulous. It's spotlessly clean and in the perfect location. Most of the staff were lovely, helpful and welcoming. The cleaners come in daily and do a great job with a smile on their faces. The hotel gardens are beautiful and very well maintained, We loved sitting out there watching the sea at night. Breakfast at the hotel was great, something for everyone. I'm a fussy eater and I enjoyed it! We spent our days on the beach which is beautiful, you have to pay for sunbed but it's cheaper than most places we've been and they were always available. I don't like being round a pool but if you do you needed to get there very early as people started throwing their towels down before 6a.m, not very fair on the families with young children. My husband and I fell in love with both Argassi and the hotel, lovely food, restaurants and bars. We've already booked our holiday to return next year!
