Calallonga Hotel Menorca

From the welcome by the reception staff (giving out details and info about everything at the hotel), so kind also to inform me about and event taking place the after my arrival. Staff at the restaurant, so kind, specially Mariela. Everyone so kind and everything at my taste. Great!

We have visited the restaurant in this hotel since 2018 but the new chef Sonia has turned the menu and food around. It is fabulous and very reasonably priced too. We had the sushi which was hand made and delicious. The staff are very friendly and efficient. This will definitely be our to go to restaurant.

We visited the restaurant end of June 24. There were only three other couples there at 8pm that evening. The restaurant and pool area were very clean with great views of the harbour. The staff were attentive and pleasant. However!! We were actually laughing at the other couples’ responses to their food as theirs was the same as ours. Chicken and chips was precisely that - bland roast chicken with no basting and just plain chips, nothing else.. also sea bass, which was a skinny piece of fillet (other restaurants here serve a full fish) with stone cold sliced courgette. We asked for a salad accompaniment but were told abruptly that salad wasn’t available. We wrote it off to experience and chose the best option which was have a good old laugh, which as I mentioned earlier was broadened by the other diners’ expressions. It’s the only hotel and restaurant around here, so we will be back but we’ll know when to go, only when we really really want just stoge and we really really can’t be bothered cooking.

Lovely hotel apartment and spotlessly clean. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Restaurant good, open all day and evening, and not overpriced. If you stay there however you will need to hire a car - ideally from the airport. When we stayed there were no local buses to the harbour, which is where you'll need to go to for nearest alternative bars/restaurants etc (possibly that changes in peak season, which begins late June) and the hotel is in a residential area so nowhere to go to within walking distance. The harbour is about a 10/15 minute drive away, and I understand there's a good beach too about 10 minutes' drive (we didn't go to it).

Loved the friendly nature of this hotel and most of the time it seemed we had the pool to ourselves. Hopefully it will remain a bit of a hidden gem, away from the more crowded hotels elsewhere on the island. Will definitely return at the earliest opportunity.
