Hotel del Almirante

Lovely Hotel with lovely views. We only gave it a 3 Star for the following reasons. After the first 24hrs we became very sick with a contagious virus. The Hotel knew they had a problem with this virus but did advise any of their guests on their arrival . Tui also knew there was a problem but continued to send guests there. Many other people were affected some worse than others and one man was hospitalised and was flown home from the hospital. We suffered with terrible sickness and diarhea. No water was available in the room and oly available from 11.00am to 11.00 pm so we suffered terrible dehydration. This is still ongoing and neither Tui or the Hotel will advise you so just be aware. Otherwise a lovely Hotel in a lovely setting.

This had to be one of the nicest and relaxing small hotels we have stayed in. We wanted peaceful and scenic, this lovely hotel had it. The history tour of the house on a Friday morning was fascinating, we loved it Before we returned to go home we realised that there was so much of the island we would have liked to visit because the buses were so reasonably priced, clean with lovely scenery while travelling, I think we may have to return...... A big thank you to Montse and Norma who worked so hard and always happy to help, they always had big smiles. The reception staff were always helpful with any questions we asked them Finally, last but not least Enrique who was the perfect gentleman, thank you so much for a lovely stay.

This was our second visit, having discovered this charming hotel last year. Our experience was as good as last time - friendly staff throughout, from chambermaids to bar staff up to the owner. We had a lovely view from our room over the harbour accompanied by a regular nightingale. The room was a good size for a double with plenty of walk around space but the bathroom was a bit smaller compared to the one we had last year. Bar prices very good as were the varied bar snacks. We discovered this time that the reception staff can arrange very reasonable car hire and they are always happy to order taxis for you. The hotel is in a great situation being halfway between Mahon and Es Castell. We would definitely stay again.

The hotel is in a great location. Easy to walk to either Mahon or Es Castell. Staff really friendly, accommodation very clean. Room fresh and modern and as of May 2024 looks like it’s been recently refurbished. Plenty of little areas to sit and read a book. Amazing view from the restaurant. Drinks and food reasonably priced.

We stayed a week here at the start of October. What an incredible experience - absolutely outstanding hotel. It was charming, clean, fairly small and everything you needed was available. There is such a lot of history attached to the hotel, which made it particularly interesting. We were blessed with amazing weather for our week. We enjoyed the fact that the hotel was situated between Mahon and Cales Fonts, which both had lots of really nice places to eat in the evenings. We mainly went to Cales Fonts to eat and it was only a fairly short walk away from the hotel. Taxis were also readily available on the evenings when we were time poor or had walked a lot in the daytime.We met some really lovely guests at the hotel - everyone was so friendly and it was evident that many of the guests were repeat ones.The staff were also extremely helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. This holiday has left us with some lovely memories and we are already planning to return next year. You know when you return from a holiday and then daydream about it all the time - this was that place for us. Thank you so much to Enrique and all your staff.

We booked this holiday the week before we were due to go. I loved the website and the history, we were not disappointed. We received a lovely welcome when we arrived, all the staff from the bar and restaurant staff to the maids were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was outside the main hotel, there was a lovely garden with tables and chairs so you could eat or drink outside. The pool area was great plenty of bed chairs to sunbathe. Everywhere was spotless! The bar area was lovely inside and out. There was an outside seating area above the bar as well. We were half board, and we had three courses every night. The food was gorgeous, soooooo tasty. The bar menu was also very good with plenty of choice and reasonably price. The hotel was full of character and quirky, we loved it!

You're not treated as a number. The staff take a genuine interest, the hotel is kept clean and furniture is either new or well maintained. The food was simple but seemed healthy. The only genuine negatives are a lack of free filtered drinking water and modernisation of bathrooms to have walk in showers rather than bath tubs which could be a little slippy

Just returned from a week at this Hotel. What a great place! We arrived early, 10am and was told our room would be ready by 1pm (great start as most places are 3pm earliest). We walked to Port Mahón, had a bite to eat and strolled back at 12. At 12:10 we were told our room was ready… result. Great room with everything you need. The Hotel itself is really interesting and full of history. All of the staff go out of their way to make you welcome, it’s really clean, the Bar serves a good choice of food and drink at reasonable prices. The Breakfast is ok and if you want sausage, bacon and egg they will get it for you at an extra cost. The Pool is lovely along with the Sun Terrace. I honestly can not fault the place and would definitely return. From the Hotel it is an approximate 10 minute walk to the start of the restaurants in the Port, 20 minutes walk to the centre of MAO, 25 minutes to the Bus Station and approximately 15 minutes to the harbour restaurants in Es Castelle. There is a bus stop literally 2 minutes away. Facilities include a Pool Table, Table Tennis and Tennis courts. The Hotel was so peaceful and tranquil with no noise what so ever at night time. We met some lovely people there too who helped make it a really nice holiday 🙂👍

Was totally surprised about everything in this small hotel. It only rates 1:2 stars but is so much more and very reasonably priced compared to others. Staff fabulous, rooms lovely location excellent, close to all amenities and lovely shaded garden, no view sadly, but no complaints otherwise.
