Property Description
Cliff House Hotel sets a new standard for those whose love of travel is matched by a passion for fine food. Elegant, modern and intimate, stays revolve around cosy lunches, innovative dining and exquisite scenery. Vast windows fill the hotel with light, and frame green and blue views of the Irish coastline. The panoramas continue in every bedroom and suite, where spacious beds and freestanding baths set a laidback luxury vibe. A spiral staircase unites the levels of the hotel, which perches on the side of a cliff overlooking Ardmore beach. Local art adorns the walls, and Donegal tweed adds an element of softness amid clean lines and slate walls. Hints of maritime style appear in the Seaside Bar and Terrace, where roaring fires keep the cold at bay in winter, while al fresco dining feels more Mediterranean than Atlantic in the summer months. No matter the weather, swimming is available year round in the indoor infinity pool, where guests are treated to more awe inspiring seascapes. From lounging by the pool to relaxing in the spa, serenity is never far away. House signatures include an indulgent outdoor seaweed bath, or a treat for the feet using the anti inflammatory properties of Irish peat. If you prefer your diversions slightly more bracing, you are in the right place. A clifftop walk along the coast will rejuvenate and inspire, and the hotel also arranges sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, nature walks and more. Further afield, Waterford is full of historic sights, picturesque towns and quaint fishing villages. Follow a day exploring with a glass of wine in the House Lounge, the perfect spot to while away a calm evening. Cliff House Hotel is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.

I am very satisfied with both the location of the hotel and the cleanliness of the room. Except for the bad attitude of the waitresses at the front desk and restaurant, everything else is very good!

The Cliff House is a wonderful place to visit and stay. The warm welcome and hospitality from the moment we pulled up to the moment we drove away was a treat and a delight.

The Cliff House combines an exceptional hotel with an amazing diner experience, either at the bar or at the Michelin star restaurant. It is a perfect destination for celebrating a special event. Special mention to all staff members at the reception, bar, restaurant, spa and everyone behind the scene for making this moment so special.

Amazing holiday experience! Service - location - hospitability - exceptional quality lodging and cuisine - the Cliff House is one of the best experiences we have had in 44 years of marriage. From arrival to departure - absolutely fabulous visit. Highly recommended.

An amazing experience from start to finish, each and every employee was exemplary! Room was absolutely beautiful with the most amazing views of the sea! Food in both the bar and the house restaurant were exceptional! Breakfast was also excellent! An incredible way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! Thanks so much to everyone at cliff house for a truly fabulous weekend!

I would not recommend the hotel as a 5 star. The rooms are just ok. It was my friends birthday and I thought they could have left something small in the room or did a candle at desert. We were left 20 minutes waiting for a bill at the bar and the waitress didn’t even apologise. We were told by the manager he would come out and get us for dinner as there as a mix up with our booking. We were completely forgotten about. I outlined this again to staff and no apology. The hot tub had a small bit of dirt in it. The chair to lay out in near the pool were also very outdated and not very impressive. The biggest selling point was the views. The food was fairly good also. We were also not offered any water going away.

This was our second stay at The Cliff. We stayed previously in 2022 which was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately the standard has slipped dramatically since 2022. I contacted the hotel prior to arrival as I wished to receive the cot dimensions and unlike other 5 star hotels I was informed that this information was not available. I always like to bring my own clean fitted sheets for my baby so I was disappointed by this. On the third day, our bedroom was not hoovered and the dirty towels were not removed from the room. I was disgusted to note that the sheets were still not changed after my baby had spit up on the sheets on the FIRST night. I had to let our baby sleep with us in our bed on the second night for hygiene reasons. I went to reception on Thursday and informed the receptionist that our room was not clean. The dirty towels remained on the floor, the floor was not hoovered and our baby’s sheets and our sheets had not been changed since our arrival. The receptionist did not apologise but said to let her know when it would suit us to have the housekeeping staff clean the room properly. This lack of basic service and hygiene is simply disgraceful! The floor was never cleaned in the bathroom as there was a loose tile that was never removed throughout our stay. We dined at the bar restaurant on our first night. We were informed that it was impossible to provide a plain boiled potato as only mash potato was available for our baby. The food was simply dire. The menu options were poor and the portions were tiny. We had to book into a local restaurant for dinner for the remainder of our stay. In April 2022 the food and service was excellent in the bar restaurant. It is interesting to highlight that we were never asked how our stay was when we were checking out. We have previously highly recommended The Cliff to our friends and family but it is with great disappointment that we are unable to continue to do so.

Location as the name suggests and beside the Cliff Walk. Ardmore as a village destination for tourists has improved significantly in the past 10+ years since Cliff House opened so variety better. Hotel decor and rooms excellent. Staff attention and friendliness across the board top notch. Food and beverage solid , good but not excellent - seems to be working more to a formula as the hotel has matured
