The spacious, clean rooms with large beds and friendly, personalized service stand out. Convenient location near attractions and delicious, varied breakfast. However, some may find it lacking variety in amenities.

On arrival we were expecting to be greeted by a quaint essential Scottish couple but the hosts Urs and Anita are a lovely Swiss couple who have run the Brucefield since 2021. Attention to detail is amazing , fresh fruit and snacks dotted around the house. Our room was beautiful and airy, super Kingsize Twin with a massive bathroom, a humongous bath plus a separate combination drench shower. Spacious parking at the rear of the property and a lovely lawn at the front which is secluded and surrounded by trees. Breakfast was equally well catered for. Only one gripe, we like a small bowl of prepared fresh fruit in a morning, only a small bowl comprising sliced strawberries, raspberries, blueberries , grapes, oranges, pineapple etc . This is something the hosts may wish to consider and add this option to the menu . Breakfast choice has to be handed in the previous evening so no problem in terms of catering. A bracing walk along the cliff top down to the harbour where there are a number of reasonably priced restaurants and bars. All told a lovely stay

The couple who run this B&B are very polite and efficient. Though surrounded by housing, the B&B has a sizeable garden plus allocated parking spaces round the back. The standard generally is good though the room price, particularly for solo guests, is more like hotel prices than for B&B. For the price, I expected more than the normal provision of comfort. While the small double room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the extra special things like locally produced Scottish toiletries (there are some lovely Scottish companies which supply businesses as well as individuals), better quality tea/coffee/biscuits and a choice of pillows rather than all the same squishy down-filled type (which not everyone likes, especially people with allergies). These things may sound trivial but together they can make a stay that bit special. Whereas the toiletries and teas etc. supplied at Brucegate come from an bog-standard large UK hospitality suppliers and I was personally disappointed to see them. Additionally, the property's description says CD & DVD player, radio and TV provided in the rooms. Our tv was small and basic, the remote was worn and unreadable, the channel options were limited and it was a faff to get radio stations, via the tv guide button. There was a dvd player, presumably you were expected to play your CDs on that, but I couldn't get it to work. There was no separate radio, only a basic large digital bedside clock. I think all of that needs upgrading in order to help to make it "Boutique" standard, as I don't feel it is special enough at the moment. The breakfasts were fine, care was taken to deliver what individuals wanted and cooking procedures explained (!). We would have appreciated some fresh fruit salad, rather than a fruit bowl at the side of the buffet table which had some old bananas and a few pieces uninspiring fruit in it. However, the provision of a fresher fruit plate on the landing was appreciated and the cooked breakfast was carefully and cleanly presented and freshly made. The buffet cereals, juices and other offerings like sliced bread toast were unremarkable, just the usual you get anywhere. In all, I think it's a good B&B with rooms and touches that could be more special than they presently are, the owners clearly want to please and they are nice people eager to help.

I can't describe how amazing our whole experience was while we stayed here. Everything was perfect from our hosts / owners to the immaculate rooms, breakfast selection and breakfast when we were eating it! We will definitely be back, thank you so so much for everything.

What a wonderful place to stay! The hosts Urs and Anita are excellent, they really pay attention to detail.Everything about our stay here felt relaxed and friendly. Our room was clean, spacious and had lots of little treats ! The breakfast is superb, and there is a shared lounge area to sit in (also with snacks and drinks!) Don't stay anywhere else in Arbroath.

We had an excellent 2 night stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast. The owners are extremely hospitable and wanted to be sure our stay was perfect. They were also kind enough to make dinner reservations for us at The Old Boatyard which I highly recommend. The establishment is in a quiet neighborhood and there is ample parking at the rear of the property. It is a short drive to the downtown core and many restaurants. Breakfast is made to order and there is ample choices. Every small detail is provided for you: chocolates on your pillows and bowls of Swiss chocolate to help yourself in the lounge. You are welcome to an open bar and snacks at any time. The front yard is expansive and there are throws to keep you warm in the cooler evenings while you enjoy the grounds. There are bowls of fresh fruit available to you in the hallways. The room had every amenity you could think of - juice and water in your mini bar fridge; robes and slippers; shoe shine kit; etc. If you like to be pampered and appreciate all the small extras to make your stay so special, don't hesitate to book; I would happily return. They deserve more than 5 stars.

The place is very nice, clean. The rooms are spacious. The hosts are always there to help you in everything. The breakfast is excellent they are using some products from farms. I cannot say one thing wrong from the place. My friend is living in Arbroath and I will stay again in this gem when I visit her next year.

Very good B&B. House beutifully decorated with attention to detail. Very clean. Room was spacious and the large bed was very comfortable. Hosts were friendly but not intrusive. Plenty of parking space. Breakfast was good. Altogether a five star experience.
