Eliros Mare Beachfront Poem Hotel

We loved our stay at Eliros Mare and definitely did not want to leave! The few areas to improve/negatives didn’t really detract from how much we enjoyed our holiday. Overall a really beautifully designed and clean hotel with great staff, food and drink. We go into detail below so you can understand the hotel better - but bear in mind despite any small criticisms we would recommend the hotel as on the whole we thought our stay was amazing. FYI The typical guests seem to be young families and couples also majority German speaking guests but all staff speak English too. FOOD The buffet was extremely varied but also had options (fresh pizza, salad, bread, cheeses and cured meats) available everyday. There was also always pasta but the type changed each day. The grill option changed everyday - the only thing we did not enjoy is the bao buns, as found the bun was dry. We really enjoyed the food and lunch time was excellent too, our favourite being the Gyros and Souvlaki. The range of sauces and dips is amazing too - the tzatziki was delicious. Breakfast has great choice although unlike lunch/dinner is mostly the same each day - it’s continental and American style. Omelettes cooked to order are available everyday but would have been nice to see this varied a bit (however we don’t like omelettes so others may disagree). They advertise a champagne breakfast on Sundays but I noticed this was put on a couple of times during our 7 day stay which was nice. We didn’t eat at the buffet at the beach restaurant, it had less choice and the food was not labelled. To improve, I think for lunch the beach restaurant should just be a grill instead of a buffet with eg gyros, souvlaki and some chips made available, this would be better than two buffets. As this sort of thing is available at the beach restaurant for half board guests to purchase, I think it should be available everyday to all inclusive guests to some extent at least. Also the beach buffet is not as good as the main buffet (way less options, no grill and not labelled) so to us it became redundant - why not do something different at the beach restaurant if that buffet can’t compete with the main buffet? It’s only a short walk between. The beach restaurant lunch offering was our one main criticism of the food but as the main buffet was great it didn’t really impact our stay but could be improved. Snacks are available throughout the day at the beach bar. We ate once at the a la carte restaurant. It is a set menu where every dish is served. We felt the salad and bean dish was slightly out of place and would work better in much smaller portions alongside the meats - maybe this is just personal preference, but eating them on their own was a bit odd. The meat course was really tasty but as there are 5 courses, smaller portions of each course would be better. The appetisers and desserts were lovely. Your hotel is a great place for vacation. The service is excellent. The beach is clean and well-maintained. Drinks are prepared quickly and deliciously.

The hotel was clean and well presented but smaller than expected and fewer facilities than i expected from a 5 star hotel. Staff in the resaurant and bar were pleasent and helpful but i couldnt say the aame for the reception. The hotel seems focused on "all inclusive" guests and, as we were half board, we felt like we were "2nd class" at times. We were asked to pay for additional coffee pods in our room, told we had to pay for dinner on our last day. Told we had to pay the room tax "in cash. We left feeling a little disappointed and thought we should have been treated better. The food was nice but the hot food could have been hotter. Rooms were clean and well presented although the bathroom was small and we could only get a cold shower in the afternoon or evening. Not sure whether there was a problem or whether this was normal practice. Overall, i dont think we will be returning.

We booked 7 nights half board at this through Jet2. The hotel was clean and well presebted but not what i would class,as 5 stars. Limited facilities i.e. 1 pool 2 bars, 2 restaurants is what i wiuld see as 4 stars. The food was nice with a good selection but the hot food could have been hotter. The rooms were clean although the bothroom quite small and you coyld only gave a cokd shower in tge afternoon/evening. I sont know whether this was normal or whether they had a problem. Tge hotel seened to focus on "all inclusive" guests and we felt that we were treated 2nd class at times i.e. asked to pay for extra coffee pods in the room, told we had to pay for dinner on our last day, told we had to pay the room tax in cash which was €210 for 2 rooms. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful other than at Reception. Reception staff only did something to help with the issues we had after an extended period of annoyance and insistance on our part. I like Crete but i dont rhink i will be returning to this hotel.

Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a beautiful room with its own private pool, which was beautifully lit in the evening. We were also welcomed with snacks and bubbles in our room. Very tasty buffet-style food, friendly staff, very helpful!

This was my third stay at Eliros Mare, and yet again it reminded me why I keep coming back: it is one of those rare places where you immediately feel at home while still enjoying the benefits of a beautifully run beachfront resort. The location is absolutely stunning — directly on the long sandy beach of Georgioupolis, with crystal-clear waters and enough space for everyone to relax comfortably. The design of the hotel is elegant and modern, with tasteful natural colours and a calm, airy atmosphere that perfectly matches the surroundings. I once again chose a beachfront room, because nothing compares to stepping outside and being only a few steps from the sea. The view is truly breathtaking, especially at sunrise. Naturally, these rooms are closest to the stage area, so you do hear the evening entertainment more clearly than elsewhere in the hotel — but this is part of the charm of staying right on the waterfront. If you choose this room category, you should be aware of that, but for me the privilege of having the sea at my doorstep far outweighs any background music from the shows. The breakfast deserves a special mention: an excellent selection ranging from fresh fruit, Greek yogurt and honey, to warm delicacies, pastries, omelettes and local specialties. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, fresh, and beautifully presented — it’s a perfect start to the day. The dinner buffet is equally impressive. Each evening there is variety and quality, with both international dishes and authentic Cretan flavours. You can really taste the emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. The dessert buffet is a highlight in itself — wonderfully crafted sweets, fruits and little surprises that make it hard not to go back for seconds. The staff in the restaurant are friendly, fast and always attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Another strength of Eliros Mare is the professional and welcoming team throughout the hotel — from reception to the the Animation Team. They create a warm and relaxed atmosphere that feels naturally hospitable rather than staged. The cleanliness of both the rooms and the public areas is impeccable, and the beach is maintained with great care. After three visits, I can confidently say that Eliros Mare is a place that combines comfort, taste, and heartfelt service in the best possible way. It’s a hotel where you don’t just stay — you return. And I’m already looking forward to my fourth visit.
