The Ivy Lake

The Hotel is a small and cosy 4 rooms newly renovated villa and was kept clean and well maintained. Mahinda who was the receptionist, cook, and was one man show was friendly and flexible. A real gentleman! The hotel room is large in size, clean and basic with Bathroom with hot shower! The electric shower is not connected to the overhead shower, so the hot water comes out of the handheld shower and not the overhead shower. To run on the electric shower you just need to the inlet valve. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Overall I would recommend this hotel !! Enjoy 😊
Green View Resort - Anuradhapura

Returned home last night after a 3 day stay at Green View Resort. We enjoyed the stay. Among the plusses are the excellent service with all smiles offered by the Manager, Ranatunge & his staff, Sanjeewa & Dinesh. The hotel uses the services of Rasika who his own tuk & we were taken to all the historical places which are actually quite nearby to this location. Rasika's fee was very reasonable. The food offered by this resort was pricey but really yummy! Do not forget to place your order for meals well in advance since they don't do short notice. The rooms & linen were very clean. The view, excellent. The pool was small & cute. Very clean with a lovely view & private. On the flip side, I woud advice the management to seriously consider payments though credit cards. Otherwise, one has to carry loads of cash(not adviceable in the present day)if you wish to stay more than one day. The room we stayed in (208)did not have the best of Air Conditioning & Wi Fi coverage, Informed Mr. Ranatunge regarding this. All in all, I would certainly visit again for short stays. Please do not miss out on visiting the Wessagiri Caves which are about 200 m walking distance. Absolutely amazing place with so much history!!!
The Lake Forest Hotel

There was a problem when we arrived – they couldn’t find our booking or which room we should be in – seems the computer was down. Our room was spacious - with a balcony overlooking the lake. There were lots of staff but their English was limited – fine with “tea or coffee?” - but when asking a question there were issues. Jug and basics were provided in the room. Buffet dinner – had lots of choices but lots of fish with bones. The food at the buffet was far from hot – we were early diners, so time wasn’t a factor. Breakfast – many of the dishes seemed the same as dinner the night before. There was also freshly cooked omelette and egg hopper. At least these were hot. Some of the restaurant staff were too attentive – hovering by the table to whisk away the plate the moment you took the last mouthful. The lift door was a problem – it closed very quickly as the first person was getting in

London Palace

We selected this place based on recommendations from a travel book. We were the only people staying there at the time. The location has two levels. We were on the second level. Breakfast was not included in the room rate much to our surprise. Then even though a hot water heater was in the room it didn’t work. We brought this to their attention. We were told it would be fixed. It wasn’t fixed, we weren’t told, and we weren’t moved to another room. When we checked out we were told ones in the other room didn’t work either. The hotel is located on a small street which means tiki tuks don’t go by. You must either walk a couple of blocks to a busy street or have them call one for you. The dogs in the area can be rather noisy.
