After arriving from Glasgow at 3am I had to go round to the service station to check-in where i was met by an unfriendly man. On walking into hotel fire alarm was going off. On opening my hotel room door i was met by an awful smell of rancid carpet. At 3.15am alarm went off. At 4am alarm went off again. I got about 3 hours sleep! Disgraceful.

Unless you want to be bitten by fleas, have wet towels from the previous occupant, have mold in the bathroom, dust all over the coffee cup tray, cobwebs and broken glass I'd advise you to go elsewhere. I've stayed in the 3rd world in some pretty dodgy places but the rooms have always been cleaner than this. If I could score less than one, I would do so. Disgusting, filthy, vile place.

Clearly a lot, are upset but my room 21 on 2nd floor was clean yes there was stains on the wall x1 but the lady who cleans every day is superb, I looked at one of the rooms she was cleaning if I left a room in that state clearly some people have no shame. The rooms where cleaned everyday to a high standard the white fluffy towels of a good quality, the bathroom was cleaned everyday , and extra shower jel and shampoo added so they are trying to give it a better outlook for a better clientele Unfortunately I think some clients dont appreciate how hard she works to maintain a certain standard. TV and tea and coffee facilities are pretty good, you just have to ask, the buisnessmen that use it look after their surroundings as they respect, a nice room very warm and no matter what anyone says the staff at Spar are lovely

Having seen a photo of the rubbish and debris in the foyer, I can confirm that 3 weeks later it still hasn't been swept up - still the same rubbish. Our room had lots of dirty marks on the walls and a handprint. We had to go to the shop to ask for extra pillows as only one per person. There were two towels but had to ask for a hand towel also. I wished I'd asked for a fourth towel to lay on the bathroom floor after having a shower. I would suggest bringing your own hairdryer as the one in the rooms are the sorts that stop every now and again due to overheating. Not sure how people get around the smoke alarms but we smelled cigarette smoke quite often in our room, even with the window shut. The bathroom was fine although takes a while for water to go down in the basin.

I stayed here the night before an Irish dancing competition I only booked here as there was no litterally no other hotels avaible in the area as they had all sold out. It is rather odd that have to check in at the service station. When you first walk into the hotel it is simply disgusting the floor is covered in what seems to be bird poo and the flooring is not even. The rooms where actually okay however carpet stained and a there was stains on the wall where it looked like a previous guest had been sick up the wall. If the cleaniness could be sorted it actually would be a lovely little hotel. It was fine for us for 1 night but I wouldn’t want to be staying any longer.

AVOID!!!!!!!! Disgusting!!!!!!! No reception and no staff at all??? Had to book in from the garage next door. As soon as we walked in it was horrible, floor all torn up and corridors stank of ****. Got to the room, bed damp and smelly 🤢 No staff to tell! Up until 4AM from the banging, shouting, and disgusting noises coming from next door. Attempted to ring the place 3 times and no answer. Absolutely vile, avoid. Asked the garage staff next door where the hotel staff were, said there’s only a cleaner?

1 flat pillow, no coffee in the room, the duvet just covers the bed, and the toilet hardly flushed. But I probably got what I paid for. Just been mindful cash vs. comfort (amenities), etc. Mattress was ok, so I slept OK. Room was clean, just bathroom attention to detail needed bits. You do get towels though.

I read a few reviews and wondered what it might be like quite prepared to come home after watching the Rugby if it was as bad as those reviews. The room I had was large, seemed to be recently refurbished and clean and. tidy with tea and. coffee making facilities. Large walk in shower and bathroom. My adult children said the same about their rooms. Very quiet except the odd late night door closing. Sure there was a coffee stain on the wall but nothing major and pleasantly surprised. Bearing in mind there was a group of Rigby fans staying I didn’t hear them at all. Clean sheets and towels although they weren’t luxury bath sheets but I didn’t pay a luxury price. Handy with Greggs, Starbucks, Subway and Spar close by in the service station which again was quiet.

This lodge is on the M61 services which is not a problem and is budget priced However even budget hotels should have clean and hygienic rooms - the one I stayed in with two single beds was frankly disgusting with horribly stained carpets, liquid splashes on the wall, stained bathroom corners, floor and ceiling and a blocked shower drain full of hair and other stuff I didn’t delve into! I would have thought coming off the back of covid cleanliness would be a priority! Never again! 🤢
