Aspen Suites Hotel Anchorage

I feel that this is the best hotel in this trip. It is characterized by a small kitchen in the room, a cookware tableware, and only a kilometer away from Wal-Mart. As a result, I buy things every day and cook for dinner. In addition, there is no house keeping in the hotel. In fact, I don't think it is necessary. It saves labor costs and is more economical.

We stayed for 3 nights. Although it is 5 miles from the airport, their shuttle service is great. Hotel is closer to many restaurants as well. Our room was quite spacious and clean. It would have been nice if there was a better view. Breakfast was relatively good but not the best. Pool and hot tub were well maintained. Front desk staff was very helpful. Overall, I will call it as Nice hotel.

I usually have a peaceful, enjoyable stay when I stay here, but this time is wasn’t so peaceful. There was a kids birthday party or something going on where there were a lot of rambunctious kids running up and down the hallway, making all this noise during my stay. Not enjoyable at all.

We liked how the room was clean and the pool smelled like chlorine and was clean unlike other hotels we stayed at. But the front desk clerk was very rude. I tried to check in a couple mins early and she only said I don’t see your name anywhere and pretty much only left me an option to leave and come back later. So instead of being friendly she was opposite and made me feel not wanted there. But we stayed anyway. And the breakfast really sucked! COVID made them feel like they can treat people however they want.

The worst hotel experience we ever have had. We are a party of 8 with 3 kids. Arriving at 11 pm were told by the front desk that they only had one room for us because the hotel is overbooked. We booked two rooms. The front desk told us she would send us to Hilton and Hilton will have two rooms for us. I doubled checked with her if Hilton would have rooms and answer was yes. This is where the nightmare started. We moved to Hilton around midnight and the front desk said not a single room available and there was nothing they can do. We had to come back to Hampton and hoped to settle the kids down in the room which was available. But when we were back, the only room was gone and there was no room at all. When we questioned her about sending us to Hilton, she said she assumed they would have room for us. She assumed, did not even bother to check or make a call and sent us over. I checked online, and found out there was no single room available in this area from the Hilton chain. How would she make an assumption so easily and made us going back and forth in the mid nights and lost the only available room. We have a 6 year olds who became really grumpy and whiny. The trip started to get ruined at the moment. After talking to the front desk and she talking to her manage eventually at around 2:40am we had our first room. It had a single bed and a sofa bed, rather than the two queen beds booked. The hotel is under extensive renovation. A fire drill woke us up at 6:30am. What else could you encounter? Unlike the other review complaint about 'you will have to be shuttled to another hotel for complimentary breakfast options.', this option is not an option anymore. We stayed two nights there, and for the second one we asked if they have a room with two beds, the front desk(another lady) said no, and announced that their system could have a glitch and they are overbooked. No apologies or empathy. I might be over reading, but the tone sounded like we were the lucky one who bumped into this glitch and should blame ourselves for being that odds. We did not say anything back and left the hotel after two nights stay. They charged us full price for the two night, it indeed shows they didn't feel bad about the situation at all and it's ourselves to blame for the terrible experience. If you dare yourself and/or your family in a similar situation for a trip in Alaska, I would recommend this hotel, otherwise please stay away.

If possible, I recommend choosing another hotel. We were scheduled to stay 3 nights, but cancelled the 3rd night. The TV did not work, the elevator did not work and it was a multi-story bldg. During the time we stayed, we did not see anyone working on the elevator. The beds had one thin sheet and a thin bedspread. There were no blankets. There were exactly two sets of bath towels. The curtain was broken. The carpet had huge burn marks. The corner floor of the bathroom had small piles of long hair which were not ours. It's old and doesn't seem to be maintained. After staying here, very surprised to see a 3-star rating on both AAA and Trip Advisor. The pictures are misleading. The lobby may have looked like the photo 10-15 years ago.
