Wingate by Wyndham Anchorage Downtown/Ship Creek

We stayed there for a total of six nights and did not get our room made-up once while we were there. We asked to have the room cleaned many times, and the house cleaning staff continued to skip our room every day. We were not the only guests having this issue, and some even checked out early due to the condition of the hotel. Upon our arrival, the sheets and towels were stained and the heat was turned off in the room, despite the outside temperatures being 10 below zero. We cranked the heat all the way up and it never warmed up in the room. The first night we slept in our coats and winter hats. Maintenance was never sent to check to see if the heater was working or attempt to fix it. We had to purchase space heaters to keep warm. The smoke detector was missing in the room, and apparently the manager was aware that many rooms were missing smoke detectors. The room keys would stop working all the time and we had to walk back down to the front desk at least once a day to have them reactivated. We absolutely will never stay here again. The saving grace was the night front desk worker, J (with the red hair) who went above and beyond to help us and honestly was the best customer service we have ever had at a hotel. She worked her hardest with the resources available to her to address the issues. I sincerely hope the management of this hotel gets their act together for the sake of future guests, but they will not be getting my money again…

The beds are pretty bouncy and worn down especially when you sit on the edges, but they're still comfy. Breakfast was a little weird. It wasn't stocked well and they only brought out one or two milk at a time and two or four pieces of bacon at a time instead of just having it stocked. The scrambled eggs were overdone. Definitely trying to be very sp****.

Overall our 6 days here wasn't terrible. It was hard to get the temperature right in the room. It was overly hot most of the time. The bed wasn't the worst but very firm. We received no service in the room the entire stay even though we specifically asked for it 2 mornings in a row. The night of the second time I went to ask the desk about it. They apologized and gave me a stack of towels and some trash bags to take care of the room myself. The indoor pool was so cold we thought about jumping in Ship Creek to warm up. And it's January..... The location isn't terrible. If you want to stay off the beaten path. But you can't walk anywhere nearby. In the summer it would have been better. Although the train whistles all night or less than desirable.

It wasn’t a bad place. The staff was cool. There’s a pool, but no hot tub. The room was nice, but I found a set of hand warmers under the covers which makes me pretty confident they never changed the sheets since the last guest.

Room showed signs of normal wear and tear. Bathroom fan and room heater were very noisy and hadn't been serviced in a while. Coffee container in the lobby was always empty. All things considered, not too bad for the price.

They got me adjoining rooms, as I asked for in notes. Bed was mediocre, nothing special, same with room. Pool is freezing, no heat at all. We asked for a 4am shuttle to airport, but they didn’t schedule it. They made it right by paying for 2 cabs to get my family to airport.

No hot water! Showers are one of the most important reasons to stay in accommodation!! Facility showed obvious signs of neglected maintenance.

The most excellent manager along with a very capable staff went the extra mile to make my three night stay outstanding! They are the epitome of hospitality! Thank you! I can't wait to come back!
