What a joy, so close to Takaka to step into dramatic landscapes - limestone cliffs, beautiful seascapes, then the wetlands, and a few minutes to the wild or peaceful West coast beaches. We love walking and exploring so this accommodation was well placed. Short walk past the weta house on site, the gorgeous nikau grove walk, beach walks, lake walk and short walks in the wetlands from the visitor centre. Unfortunately we missed the turn off to the latter; upside tide in for beautiful views on the drive out. There's longer walks too but we like a balance of chill time 😊 The separate pod accommodation is comfortable and well equipped. Information is provided on the area's history and hosts Sally and Giff bulge with information on that and the natural environment. They are available as needed but also unobtrusive. We loved our night trip to view the glow worm grotto alive with native koura and cave weta as well. And the dark skies out there revealed fantastic viewing. We left after 2 nights feeling like we'd had a weeks holiday. Lunch at Takaka in the way home - couldn't be better. Thanks Sally & Giff (even posted my sunglasses back).

Wetland View Park is in a wonderful setting, with views over to dramatic limestone cliffs. Sally and Giff are very welcoming hosts. Sally provided a wealth of information on the area and its history and Giff took us on an evening visit to see glow worms and freshwater koura nearby. Mangarakau wetland is spectacular as is the nearby West Coast beach and Sally and Giff have put a lot of work in planting natives on their property. Some care needs to be taken on the heavily rutted Snake Creek if you are driving an ordinary car. If you are a nature lover or just want a peaceful escape, Wetland View Park is ideal.

Such welcoming hosts, Sally and Giff were amazing. The chalet was so warm and comfortable with the most beautiful outlook towards the wetland and at night, fantastic views of the night sky. I so enjoyed walking from my chalet through the native bush and along the road to the Mangarakau Wetland where I spent hours marveling at the wonderful views of the lakes and cliffs above. The birdlife was incredible; in fact I never saw another person while walking the tracks so had the whole place to myself. Also enjoyed a short trip to see the glow worms and weta cave, as well as a fresh water crayfish in one of the pools. Sally could not have been more helpful even arranging a ride for me back to Takaka with a local nurse. I highly recommend a visit to this amazing spot.
