Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam

Oude Centrum Amsterdam|0.5km from Sexmuseum de Venustempel
Given the reviews, I was not keen to stay here, but thanks to Ajax v Napoli there were no others available. To sum up, this isn't a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It is a 3 star hotel. Positives: - Location is superb - Architecturally stunning building - Large room (in my case, at least) - WiFi speeds are good. I was able to do video meetings from my room - Staff were pleasant and friendly Negatives: - Inside, the hotel is dark and in a state of disrepair - The kitchen closes early, and room service appears to not be possible. I was told that I should download Uber Eats if I wanted food after 10pm. - The room is tidy, but basic areas like around the sinks, bath, windows and TV were dirty - There is a smell of sewage that comes from the shower drain - The majority of channels on the TV are unavailable - There is no air conditioning. I had 2 tower fans in my room, and I had to use them both just to stay cool - No help with luggage, not that I couldn't manage myself - You get a bottle of water on the table when you check in. I had some the first night because it was so hot in the room. The second night when I was working late, I turned to open my fresh bottle. Nope! Same half empty bottle, had just been moved back to the table again. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel! Stay somewhere else. A few weeks earlier, I stayed in the Sofitel Legend. THAT is a 5 star hotel.

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel within 1 week. Extremely happy with the service, the friendliness, the cleanliness and the general atmosphere of this hotel. Larissa at reception is the friendliest and obliging reception I have ever encountered. Vincent the maintenence man is extremely helpful with tips abt Amsterdam city and of course if anything needs to be done. The manager is helpful and always willing to answer many questions and give correct advice. To sum up I highly recommend this hotel for short or long stay. Very well priced with excellent service.

The location is really very good, convenient from anywhere, the hotel is small, but understandable, the location in the city center, everything is worth it, there is a chance to come to the Netherlands again, it is really a man ’s paradise

We spent 5 nights in the spa room on the top floor and had a great time. the location is within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see with lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. As almost everyone else reports, there is a lot of noise from the street but since everything closed down at midnight it wasn't too bad and it's really just the bustle of people not the noise of drunken brawls. the breakfast was at a nearby restaurant and was superb. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. The spa bath was nice to relax in after a long day of walking and eating and drinking!

Super duper close to Amsterdam Centraal station and there are buses and trams nearby. Just a 10-15 min walk to the ******************s and de Bijenkorf shopping mall. We said we didn't want end rooms but got arranged to one when we checked in... The view was nice with a balcony (but it's locked so you can't go outside) but my partner did not feel comfortable with end rooms. Eventually we called down to the front desk for a room and they changed us to a room nearer to the lifts. One thing I really liked about the hotel is that they use WhatsApp for requesting for amenities and checking out. It's convenient and simple to use but somehow... The housekeeping keeps on getting 1 or 2 items wrong lol Oh and please note that they don't provide bottled water, the whole city is proud of their tap water and the receptionist said it's safe to drink. If tap water isn't to your liking, there are quite a few stores nearby to buy mineral water. I would recommend going to Albert Heijn or Dirk for those. Slippers are provided in this hotel.

The kitchen was large and well equipped. Showers were very good, some of the most convenient (and warm!) we have found in a hostel so far. The beds were fine, we booked a double bed in a 32 room dorm and while there were people in and out (and some people will just talk at normal volume in the middle of the night) we still got a decent night's sleep. We couldn't hear noise from the bar even though our room was really close by, and in general people were quiet and respectful. Location is excellent if you want to be close to the station, it's a five minute walk away. We couldn't ask for more for the price. You had to scan your key card to get into the building and staff monitored this to make sure only guests were coming in so the hostel felt safe. Free coffee in the mornings. They had breakfast on offer for 5 euros.
