The hotel was very accommodating as our flight was cancelled and we were able to get an upgrade. Friendly receptionist and overall positive but room could be a bit cleaner

Very average hotel with an unpleasant stay experience. You should only book this if the location suits your itinerary, price fits your budget, and service is not that important to you. Only plus point is that it is a few minutes walk to overamstel metro station, which you can use to go to some popular locations like dam square, rijkmuseum, albert cuypstraat. Bedrooms are small and not cleaned daily unless you specially request for it. Even when you request for it, only 90% of the room is clean. For example, dirty utensils (eg. cups, forks and plates) are left as it is. The service from the reception staff was honestly not very good. Only half of them serve you with a smile and a few of them do just the minimum to help you. What I was most disappointed with was the professionalism and integrity of one particular staff - Nilesh. On the day of my checkout, my family almost missed our flight because he ordered a taxi that was too small for us (even after I showed him the 3 big luggages which needed to fit into the car) and gave us the wrong information about the airport transfer prices. Firstly, when confronted by the cab driver about ordering the wrong car and wasting her time, he shifted the blame to me and lied that I hadn't request for a bigger car. Secondly, he had originally told me that the 4-seater and 6-seater have the same price, but when the new driver wanted to charge me additional 10 euros, he backtracked on his word and did not offer any help. If i had known this earlier I would have just ordered an Uber through the app. Another big inconvenience I faced was that the telephone was spoilt and not fixed throughout my 5D4N stay. Hence, I had to make almost all of my requests physically at the reception by taking the lift downstairs for 12 floors. The staff encouraged me to download and use an app to make all these requests, but i must admit that the app experience was also very poor. Firstly, it is difficult to log in and navigate the app, secondly on average the staff take 2 hours to reply to my messages on the chat, by then i was either asleep or had already left the hotel to explore the city, hence it takes ages for them to even check the room telephone or give extra tissues.

We booked three nights and the room was NEVER cleaned - not even once! On arrival the receptionist told us that if we “require” cleaning please hang the tag outside our room. The next day we did as what she told us, but when we were back apparently no cleaning was done (and no new towels provided). We called the reception and were told that since we hung the tag in the morning, it was an indication of “no cleaning required”. We checked the tag itself and it says “go greener - is cleaning everyday really necessary?”, which I understand means no cleaning required if we hang the tag. Ok the next day we didn’t hang the tag, but again no cleaning was done. We called the reception again and I was told that I would need to hang the tag to require cleaning everyday. So basically during our stay for three nights, no cleaning was done at all. We had to request for new towels and sheets and no one collected the trash. Since what different receptionists told us contradictory information, there must be something wrong with the staff training as to cleaning procedures.

Cleanliness can be improved, the pillow cases on some days were dusty after the housekeeping. Also, water keeps leaking out of the bathroom through the gaps at the door. Location wise is quite convenient with the metro just 2 mins away from the hotel.

This hotel is pretty amazing. The room, the hotel itself was very nice. It is 10 mins far from the center, but the metro is just beside the hotel.

I had the worst experience with Leonardo Royal Hotel stay experience. The worst quality of service. The air conditioning of the room was not working for whole night of my first day. It has ruined my first day of stay. On asking for another room or compensation for the night they lied and mentioned the issue is with all rooms and not provided curtosy to refund or compensate for the terrific experience.
