W Amsterdam

This is one of the most underwhelming Ws I’ve stayed and I’ve stayed at close to 20 of them worldwide. The service at the hotel is, at its very best, is a two star experience. The staff was very disjointed at check in, and didn’t even bother to acknowledge my status like they do at every other Marriott property. None of my room requests were completed, even though I checked in at a normal check in time. It was seriously like they did the opposite of everything I requested online. Let’s talk about the rooms where you don’t even have room to stretch your arms. They’re tiny, and you’ll trip into the bathroom the moment you open the front door. The rooms are also very noisy, and you can hear everything your neighbor’s doing. The rooms aren’t worth the price of admission, and leave a lot to be desired considering the price point. These rooms are more on the level of an AC or even a Moxy, but the price rivals a Ritz or a St. Regis for my other Bonvoy members. The elevators were tiny, and unbelievably slow, so I hope you’re not in a hurry to go anywhere. The only redeeming parts about this hotel is the location and they have a great steakhouse. Overall, unless you enjoy burning money for no reason, I’d caution you to be smarter than me and stay at different hotel. I’m a bonvoy member and this W property has been very disappointing. It’s definitely not like the W Rome so temper your expectations. Sorry for the essay, but I thought I’d give everyone some serious cautionary advice before booking here.

Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam

Oude Centrum Amsterdam|1.47km from Cafe 't Monumentje
Given the reviews, I was not keen to stay here, but thanks to Ajax v Napoli there were no others available. To sum up, this isn't a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It is a 3 star hotel. Positives: - Location is superb - Architecturally stunning building - Large room (in my case, at least) - WiFi speeds are good. I was able to do video meetings from my room - Staff were pleasant and friendly Negatives: - Inside, the hotel is dark and in a state of disrepair - The kitchen closes early, and room service appears to not be possible. I was told that I should download Uber Eats if I wanted food after 10pm. - The room is tidy, but basic areas like around the sinks, bath, windows and TV were dirty - There is a smell of sewage that comes from the shower drain - The majority of channels on the TV are unavailable - There is no air conditioning. I had 2 tower fans in my room, and I had to use them both just to stay cool - No help with luggage, not that I couldn't manage myself - You get a bottle of water on the table when you check in. I had some the first night because it was so hot in the room. The second night when I was working late, I turned to open my fresh bottle. Nope! Same half empty bottle, had just been moved back to the table again. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel! Stay somewhere else. A few weeks earlier, I stayed in the Sofitel Legend. THAT is a 5 star hotel.

We recently visited Amsterdam for a 3 day trip and the Clemens Hotel was great! Centrally located and within walking distance of all tourist spots and shops. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. They took our bags to the room, greeted us with a complimentary beverage on arrival, lent us an adaptor for our phone charger and stored our bags on departure day with no fuss at all. We didn’t feel rushed and immediately felt at ease on arrival. The complimentary breakfast was lovely with scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereals on offer. We stayed in a room on the third floor which was a little small but very comfortable and clean with a lovely hot shower perfect after a day of exploring. The only negative I can see to this hotel is the very steep stairs, which we managed with but they would be a challenge for some. Overall a lovely stay and great hospitality. Thank you

I'd like to first mention that all the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful as we had arrived way too early for a 3:00 pm check-in and that during our stay all of them went above and beyond helping us with every question we had since this was our first stay in Amsterdam. So we would like to mention their names in appreciation for their helpfulness and professionalism: Sofia, Anna, and Floris. Mr Floris in addition also helped us greatly with some Dutch translation and covid-19 test results not being emailed by a local testing company. There are many words to describe this hotel as exceptional and unique with its air of antique but yet modern with elevator service, bar and breakfast buffet, etc. Our room was great with in-room private shower and bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The Mercier is perfectly located close to everything whether a canal boat ride, tulip museum, Ann's Frank house, Amsterdam central, tram route, etc. From The Mercier my wife and I managed to use public transportation and visited the Keukenhof Tulip Park. There's no doubt we'll stay there again on our next visit to Amsterdam.

This is a lovely little hotel in a quiet part of town but in close enough distance to all the hustle and bustle you'd want as a tourist. The rooms are small, but they are charming and cosy nonetheless - exactly as advertised, to be honest. I stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed my stay. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating - during my stay, I unfortunately took a fall in the city centre and went back to my hotel to rest, I notified the front desk that I was a bit shaken up and they very kindly checked up on me regularly to make sure I was OK. Thank you very much to the wonderful team at Linden Hotel for looking after me! I'll be back again soon :-)

Well located for wandering around the city this is a beautiful old building with a modern but comfortable interior. Our room overlooked the garden, was very quiet and a lot of thought had gone into designing a room geared towards a guests needs. The large bed was comfortable, there was tea and coffee making, a brilliantly stocked mini bar, small fridge, good lighting for makeup, seating area, bathrobes and an excellent shower with lovely toiletries. The only improvements I would make was some hooks on the small lobby to hang coats and a magnifying mirror. The garden is beautiful and we really appreciated just sitting out here reading after spending the day exploring. Breakfast is continental and has a good selection but it would be nice to have a cooked option like an omelette or scambled eggs. Staff are a major asset to the hotel offering excellent advise on local places to eat and things to see. Our recommendations are: Max (indonesion), Mamas and Tapas, Winkel 43 (cappuccino and apple pie) also Flagship do excellent canal tours with local guides, Secret City Trails (fun treasure trail to discover the city) and finally Rembrandts House was interesting and there was a brilliant printmaking demo.

I am so glad that I spent a few more dollars to stay at this truly wonderful hotel. I was travelling solo for the first time in Amsterdam and lucked into a great price for one of their smaller rooms (which was still luxurious). The area is perfect for getting around the entire city (with a nearby tram stop if your feet give out). And the hotel itself feels warm despite its grandeur -- definitely because the entire staff are amazingly kind and helpful -- including the wonderful people bringing your delicious breakfast or pouring the perfect drink after a day of museums! If your budget can stretch to afford this glorious place, it is truly top-notch and will make your stay in Amsterdam extremely comfortable. I honestly cannot recommend it enough! With thanks to all from a grateful guest...

They really thought of lots of lovely little things that make your stay fantastic... you walk in and there's wine gums on reception to feast on, you can take a Polaroid and clip it to the wall, postcards to send home, more wine gums on your bed & water bottles to refill with lovely flavoured water downstairs... so many lovely things. Quiet location, but still on a pretty canal. Close to all the must see places, great boutique type shops all around.
