Chateau de Pray

We stayed here from December 19-21, 2023. This is a beautiful hotel, well, really a castle! The grounds are very nice and there is even a Michelin rated restaurant located on the grounds. The rooms are big and well appointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly. This location is great as a base while exploring the nearby castles and chateaus, of which there are many. There is parking on the grounds, and also nearby places to dine and drink. One of the more unique locations we have stayed on our journeys.

We had an excellent stay at the Chateau de Pray, right outside of Amboise. We stayed for 3 nights in August 2024 in order to explore the Loire Valley. As a family of 4 (two children ages 10 and 13), we appreciated the family room that had a king bed and two twin beds. The room was very comfortable, and even air conditioned. The kids LOVED the pool and we spent a couple of hours there each evening. We did not eat at the restaurant but had the room service on one night that the restaurant was closed and it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to the Loire valley with children and have a car (too far to walk to Amboise for public transportation). This was our favorite hotel in France!

We visited the hotel with 3 kids. The swimming pool was excellent as well as the quality of the food.

We arrived as part of a group wine tour. I read the reviews and was expecting a great experience. Our room was small, furniture old, WiFi poor and food quality, presentation and service was average (we didn’t do the Michelin experience). Definitely not recommended.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely chateau. We were particularly impressed by the friendly staff who were always available, spoke great English, and were very helpful with anytihing we needed. We enjoyed the pool and horseback riding at the adjacent stable (which offered an extensive priviate ride suited to riding ability through lovely scenery), as well as the Michelin star restaurant. The location was perfect for seeing surrounding chateaaux and vineyards, which were a short drive away. We definitely would recommend a car, however, for a stay at this chateau, as traversing busy roads was required to get to the town of Amboise.

Château du Pray was a fantastic experience for us (married couple in late 30s with a 1 and 3 year old). Very well situated in Chargé which is quite close to Amboise and Tours. The property is absolutely stunning with a proper garden, amazing pool, and Michelin star restaurant! The château was very accommodating allowing us to even eat at their fancy Michelin star restaurant with our kids and even brought us an amazing dinner on Sunday night when the restaurant was closed (one of the best meals we had our whole trip). We used our stay as a jumping off point to visit Château Villandry (highly recommended for the beautiful gardens and house itself) and ZooParc de Beauval (amazing for kids and probably the best zoo we have ever been to as well; think zoo version of the Georgia Aquarium). Overall the room and grounds were incredible and the staff was extremely accommodating and kind. We would highly recommend staying here with kids, a romantic getaway, or just a much needed outing!

A nice castle, with a pleasant interior and very good service. The pool and its surroundings are not very big, but they are well maintained. If you can't find a place to sunbathe by the pool, there are also sunbeds in the garden next to it. There was also a bar in the pool area in the afternoon, and you could also order a massage there. The breakfast also met the Northern European standard, but for complete satisfaction, the salty selection could have been a little bigger. Amboise city centre with its many attractions is a 10-minute drive away. There are several castles in the immediate vicinity that are worth visiting. The castle has its own restaurant, but it is not open every day. The mobile internet was weak there, it still worked outside, but the signal remained very weak in the room with thick walls. The hotel's Wi-Fi was also very poor in our room, so I had to cancel the planned work over the Internet. Compared to several other castles we stayed at on this long trip to the Loire Valley, this one had the most professional service, but the smallest rooms.

Stayed here only one night but it felt in need of a refresh in order to be a really nice Chateau hotel. I don't know if it is worth the price. Nice grounds with an infinity pool and beautiful gardens. The grounds are below the chateau. Located on a little traveled road a 5 minute walk from the main road along the Loire. The worn down aspect, though not severe, takes away from the luxury feel. Couldn't get WiFi in my room (#2). Another person couldn't get the key to work in the lock to leave her room, took her many minutes. It's a hefty walk into Amboise, more pleasant to walk along the back roads than the main road.
