Another fantastic stay at Hillsdale in Ambleside. This was our 3rd visit and each room we have stayed in has been excellent. Very comfy beds and pillows, clean rooms and bathrooms. Caz & Steve are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them to help you. The breakfasts are amazing and there is so much to choose from. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection every time. Don't forget to pack your slippers! Leave your shoes/boots in the hall and relax in your slippers, even at breakfast.

Recently returned from another stay at Hillsdale, wouldn't stay anywhere else whilst visiting Ambleside, Steve and Caz are superb hosts, they welcome you into their home like you are family and go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. From the beautiful rooms with everything you could possibly want i.e. wine glasses, corkscrew, little hot water bottles etc. although we have never needed to to use the hot water bottle as the rooms are always very cosy, we did however make use of the wine glasses ;-) The breakfast is superb, good quality ingredients and plenty of it to set you up for the day. Already booked for the same time in 2025 and we really look forward to our visit, not only because of the great service and perfect guest house but also to see Steve and Caz again! See you next year!

What can I say about Hillsdale other than fabulous , Steve and Caz go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need and more . Super comfy bed , spotlessly clean , each room tastefully decorated. Highly recommend , great base for discovering all that the beautiful lakes have to offer, wonderful breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring. Can’t wait to visit again . Thanks to the best hosts.

Well what can I say , just returned from our 3rd stay with Steve and Caz at their wonderful home because that is what it feels like. They invite you in and treat you like family. The rooms are warm ,comfortable and have everything including hair dryer, tea and coffee lovely bickies x ,if you get wet in the rain they will even dry your clothes. Breakfast is everything you ask for cooked to perfection and if you want something different just ask it we there for you .Booked for next year before we left ,Don't want to miss our room x

We had a truly fantastic stay at Hillsdale. The hospitality was warm and welcoming. The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home, gave great advice for local walks, food and drink and ensured we had everything we needed. The breakfasts were delicious, varied, and beautifully prepared each morning, with plenty of options to suit every taste. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, providing the perfect retreat after a day of exploring the stunning surroundings. Highly recommend Hillsdale B&B for anyone visiting Ambleside. Will definitely be back!

This is the best B&B in Ambleside and it’s run by the nicest people in Steve and Caz. They both go all out to make sure that the stay there is as comfortable as possible. The house is in a great location and the rooms are really quiet and spotlessly clean. I would have no problem recommending a stay at Hillsdale and can’t wait to go back.

Our 5th stay at Hillsdale, and as always, a perfect stay! Steve and Caz are wonderful hosts and have thought of every detail to ensure a great experience. Warm and cosy at this time of year, in a perfect location. Once you have parked the car in their convenient spaces you can do great walks from the door and lots of choice of restaurants. We had Room 1 again which is a lovely space, with chairs in the bay window for relaxing and reading, and lovely furnishings. Breakfast is excellent and well organised. Thanks again Steve and Caz, we shall see you again soon! Amanda and Stuart x
