Hillsdale B&B in Ambleside

One of the best accommodations in my trip. Clean and tidy facilities, big bed. Also the breakfast is perfect!

Hillsdale is the only place we would stay in Ambleside. Steve and Caz are outstanding at what they do. The rooms are lovely with all the things anyone needs for a stay. Breakfast has lots of choices and is excellent also. We look forward to our next stay!

Just back from a couple of days in Ambleside staying at Hillsdale and pleased to note that it is probably the best stay anywhere of any type that I’ve experienced. Steve and Caz could not have been better hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The room and facilities were perfect and the breakfast was absolutely spot on. I tend to be a fussy so and so and always manage to find something g to gripe about but, for once, I have nothing but praise for Hillsdale and the people running it. Well done both for managing the best B&B ever and knocking spots off the many other places that I’ve stayed. Hopefully it won’t be long before I am back there. David.

Hillsdale is by far the best B&B (or hotel, for that matter) that I've ever been luck enough to stay in. From the moment I arrived and was greeted by Steve, I knew I was staying somewhere great. The B&B itself is in a fantastic location, right in Ambleside meaning nothing is further than a five minute walk away. The availability of a parking space is a massive bonus as anyone familiar with the Lake District will know, and it's lovely knowing your car is secure on the days you don't need it. The rooms within the Hillsdale are beaautifully decorated, and the breakfasts - wow! You need to stay for a week just to try all the options! Absolutely delicious every morning. As for Steve and Caz, what can I say that hasn't already been said? You just couldn't meet two friendlier, funnier and nicer people. Nothing at all was a problem for them, they're so easy to talk to, and their knowledge of the area and suggestions for restaurants, places of interest etc were all spot on. I can totally understand why so many reviews include people saying they can't wait to get back, and I'm now one of them. Top tips - Definitely book your restaurants in advance if looking to eat in Ambleside. Every night I saw people trying to book there and then only to find out the place had been booked up for weeks. Also, take advantage of the £2 bus fare through to Keswick or Grasmere as it saves the nightmare (and cost) of trying to find a parking space.

We have just enjoyed a fabulous 5 night break in the Lake District staying in this wonderful B&B. The hosts at Hillsdale in Ambleside offer a first class service to every guest. Their attention to detail is clearly evident in every aspect of the accommodation. The rooms are well furnished and extremely comfortable with all the little extras that you would expect to find in a quality B&B. The breakfasts are excellent offering a wide range of quality produce to suit all tastes. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts and they will go the extra mile to ensure your stay is the best experience possible. The location of this B&B is perfect for exploring the lakes and accessing the many different water sports on offer, or if you prefer just relax on one of the boat trips taking in the stunning scenery, There are numerous interesting walks to enjoy and plenty of choice for climbing opportunities. This area is ideal for both those seeking to be adventurous or just looking to relax, unwind and clear the mind. This is our second stay at this B&B and certainly will not be or last. We would highly recommend it.

Completely fabulous, great location , immaculately clean, lovely generous breakfast. They have thought of everything, from the mirrors next to plug sockets to somewhere to put those tea bags. They have wine glasses and a corkscrew on the room and you can ask for ice. There is seating outside in the lovely front garden.

Steve & Caz run an exceptional B & B and our experience staying for 3 nights was excellent in every way. We were cared for beautifully- Steve was attentive, thoughtful, humorous and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotless, bright, attractive and inviting - bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was delightful - delicious perfectly cooked food and a lovely atmosphere. We have no negatives at all. Highly recommended!

Lovely homely B&B within easy reach of all Ambleside has to offer! Room has some lovely added touches to make your stay comfortable. Parking included makes it less stressful & the breakfast sets you up for the day! Thank you & will visit again
