The food at Sala’s kitchen at the hotel is amazing and the service even better! Afeni is such a treat and is friendly and seems to really love her job. She made our experience there on two different occasions really special. Thanks again Afeni!

We are returning customers to the Playa De Sala Boutiques hotel. We appreciate the peaceful, south side of San Pedro Island, where the Boutique hotel is located (if you like a lot of action, people, and noise, do not stay in this location). In addition, the wonderful and very friendly staff that Forest employees will aid you with all your needs. It is a short but bumpy golf cart ride (a golf cart is critical for transportation) to town (15 to 20 minutes, grab a few beers for the road and go). The food is good and if you're lucky enough to catch some fresh fish (snapper), Melissa the head chef will be happy to prepare the entire whole fish Belizean style which is amazing, and you can't get a fresher fish than that (better than ELVI'S whole fish, which was also exceptional). Forest is always making improvements to the hotel and outdoor bar which is a blast to have cocktails at after a long day on the water and catch up with other travelers. We found the Stone room to be our favorite room choice for the view and privacy. I also appreciated the water toys as I took the kayak out most mornings to fish from, if I did not already have a fishing guide picking use up at the hotel dock. We will be back again soon to visit our friends at the Playa De Sala Boutique!

My friend and I decided we wanted to check out the boat/rooftop bar after reading others reviews.. the food and drink were pretty good but definitely a bit overpriced. tbh overall it was quite lackluster, I guess you pay for the motels glamour? Considering how far away they’re located, to me, it wasnt worth the day trip. The little swings at the boat bar were fun tho.

My husband and I stayed here for 6 days for our 24th wedding Anniversary. We wanted to be in an adult only environment, with an amazing view and we wanted peace and calm. Playa De Sala delivered. The owner and staff were all very accommodating. We will be back real soon.

Me and my husband had our wedding party here at Playa De Sala and it was nothing short of fantastic! Forest was an amazing host and the boutique vibes were amazing! She even gave us a complimentary room to stay in as a wedding present and oh my gosh! It was breathtaking and the food was outstanding! Thank you Forest!

I would have rated higher since the beginning of our stay was pleasant, though the last handful of interactions completely soured that. The waitstaff was awesome- especially Afeni- and the manager Josh even offered an extra night stay on the house since I had been holed up in our room recovering from a bad lip infection.Unfortunately we couldn’t switch our flights. Then on our second to last night a tile fell off our bathroom counter. I got a staff member to come see to it, as you would if anything in your room broke down. Mark came, took a photo, and was going to leave until we suggested he take the broken tile out of the room- no sweeping or clean up of the broken shards. We had a relaxing last day and got our final bill at dinner with a $450+ American dollars charge for the tile. My partner went to discuss this charge and Mark said that I had a bloody lip (I did not, lips healing from said infection) and implied that my partner gave me the bloody lip and somehow that was also the cause of the tile falling off. We were told we could speak with manager Josh in the morning. We go to check out and it’s Mark again- not Josh- repeating his insinuations that my partner had given me a bloody lip and it’s somehow also proof of the tile being our fault. He said we had to pay or we would be detained by the police, while also saying HE in fact was “an officer of the law” (??) We ended up paying the absurd $450+ charge for 1 broken tile, and he still called the police- who seemingly had a lot more questions about his actions than ours.. The whole situation was an absolute failure of management, insulting insinuations, and then blaming the guests for their own poor handiwork. Be warned- If you stay here, cross your fingers that your room doesn’t fall apart because they will nickel and dime you for all the fancy materials they decide to import from out of the country. Owners/management refuse to take any responsibility and are defensive (as I’m sure we’ll see in their response to this review) nor take any ownership when it comes to their own mistakes.

To be clear, I rarely leave reviews. What could’ve been a much higher rating due to the kitchen, housekeepers and other staff. The person I believed to be the “owner” Forrest and her what appeared to be boyfriend?, did their very best to earn themselves a 1 star rating. The night before we checked out we were given a bill with charges during our stay. All was good until I noticed a ‘damages’ charge for $450usd for a 1’x 5” piece of tile that dropped off the side of the sink from placing my hand on it while I was brushing my teeth.. we chose to inform the staff what had happened, because we felt it was the right thing to do. When I asked about the charge, Forrest’s boyfriend? (Idk if he even works there) mentioned it was because the tile came from Mexico, which is why it was so expensive. When I explained it FELL from touching it, he said well there have been multiple other ppl who’ve stayed there and it hasn’t fallen.. (again, no idea if this guy even works there) I told the “owner” and her boyfriend I wouldn’t be paying for that, her boyfriend then proceeded to grasp at straws insinuating that I may have hit my partner because she was recovering from a bacterial lip infection, and he thought they appeared bloody? I was obviously upset from the insane allegations, when Forrest stepped in to say, let’s wait for josh(the GM) to talk it over in the morning.. I was flabbergasted and couldn’t believe what was occurring. If you’re coming to Belize- DO NOT STAY AT PLAYA DE SALA. I promise you’ll regret it.

Belize was one of the most memorable Birthday trips I've experienced and Playa De Sala was a major reason why. Prior to arrival the communication with the property was awesome, checking in to see if we had adequate transportation from the airport along with offering to make accommodations if needed. When we arrive we were welcomed with refreshing non-alcoholic drinks and a 'Happy Birthday' situated in the sand right in front of our room accomodations. The room accommodations are large and perfect views of the waterside. The staff is incredible, especially Chris, he greeted us when we left for the night and answered any questions we had about the island. We did not discover until our last night there that some of the best food is right at Playa De Sala! Every meal we had was great, including the breakfast! Playa De Sala brands as boutique hotel, but felt more like a "airbnb" with an inhouse staff- if that makes sense. Playa De SALA is a true gem and we'll most definitely be returning!
