We had stayed at Longstreet in 2021 and chose to return to it in Jan 2024. The experience was mostly the same, but you can tell that a tough economy has pinched things a bit. The restaurant seemed always understaffed, and the food quality wasn't as good as before. Gas was only 4 cents cheaper than at some CA stations. And the food for feeding the geese and ducks was gone. But the rooms were still decent (nothing special, but spacious and clean, though tired), the staff were kind, and the location was great for those (like us) looking to go into Death Valley during the day. They have a gas station on site, a small store that's open 24 hrs, and a restaurant on site so you can eat any meal of the day. There's really not much else around, so it's not like there are tons of choices on where to stay, but I would generally recommend Longstreet to most people looking for a getaway into the desert. It's certainly not high class, so those who prefer Hiltons or who are used to the finer things will be disappointed. But for the average family of travelers it's a sure bet that was nice to come back to.
