We really regretted staying here. From check in it didn't go well, the receptionist took us to our room, where the cleaner was just finishing and let us in. It was only a little while later when we went to go out that we realised that we'd not been given a room key! That's the basic thing of checking into a hotel I feel? The room itself was chalet style but quite small, there was evidence of damp up the walls in both the bedroom and bathroom and in fact one of our bags and it's contents got damp as we left it by the wall! The bed and bedding was modern and quite nice but the shower head was completely erratic and I'd imagine due to lack of cleaning the jets just directed water everywhere. On our 2nd day with the sun out brightly, we thought we'd lay by the pool for a few hours, being Brit's we always love the chance to lay in the sun.....nope, the first time we'd ever stayed in a hotel that has a pool but absolutely zero sun loungers! We even asked at reception just in case they'd stored them away but were informed bluntly that they simply didn't have any! The pool itself, like the rest of the "resort" has seen better days and was tatty and not very inviting. There are quite a lot of game in the grounds of the hotel, often some way off and the walks are poorly signposted. The best thing about the resort was leaving. We definitely would not return, how it gets some decent reviews is beyond me! Avoid, there are plenty of other choices in Newcastle, SA.

Likeable venue to get away from the noise of the big cities. Close to the local CBD. Enjoyed the hiking trails and sunset against the Drakensberg.

We went to Grey Goose Game Lodge with some friends. The kids couldn't play on the jumping pillow for long as it is in direct sunlight and their feet started burning. It was also a sjlep to get in as they rerouted the parking since we were there last time and you completely bypass reception. There are two guys sitting under a tree where you need to fill out indemnity forms (very unprofessional!). The bill was also quite a surprise! The kids wanted some water and when we went to pay the bill we found that they charged R35 per 500ml water! Its just ridiculous! We also had like 3 or 4 waiters which was super confusing. They won't see us again soon!

I have stayed at the Grey Goose before and every time the service is of a high standard. For a family there is so much to do and the entertainment for children is of a high standard. Good food and facilities on the premises. It is a place I will take my family to if I travel with them.

The place was tranquil and great. Beautiful views throughout. Some improvement is needed at the restaurant service is lacking and food is bland. Items run out way to early before the buffet closes. The rooms are spacious and beautiful.

Great place to overnight. Friendly and efficient service. Clean and updated room. Nice setting. Food was good. Went for a walk in the morning which was nice to be able to do. Loved the bunnies and Ostriches around the property.

The food is always amazingly tasty, staff are welcoming and approachable, rooms and facilities are updated and modern with a classy country feel, great landscapes, peaceful, tranquil and pleasant. I have stayed at GGGL for 3 years and ongoing, this is my home away from home and I cannot wait to bring my wife and family for a stay away from the chaos of the capital
