Fantastic hotel. Rooms cleaned every day location great. Reception staff very helpful and always had a smile Big thank you to Thomas ( I think that’s his name) at reception. Almost every night we asked him for directions to restaurants/ bus stops etc and he was so good at explaining it to us. Lovely pool area small but quiet and relaxing Breakfast staff were fine but a simple smile in the morning would have been nice A bit “ grumpy “ to say the least. Umberto was just great. He’s the tall one. Always had the biggest smile for you when we walked in. Very very nice man. Would recommend this hotel. If I ever return to ALVOR , I will certainly return to this hotel. !!! Just to say the jet 2 rep was wonderful. I took ILL one morning and she went above and beyond to help me. Phoned later that day to check on me and also the following day too. Wish I could remember her name. So a big thank you to her !!!

I would love to give this place a poor review to put people off going so I could keep it for myself but that would be doing the staff a real disservice. I can't fault this place at all- the place was spotless inside and out and the rooms were well equipped with fridge ,safe and air conditioning and lovely hot showers. The breakfast had something for everyone and changed each day. The staff are the real star of the show though and nothing is too much trouble. We mentioned we were looking for worry beads and the next thing we knew one of the waitresses at breakfast went across the street and brought back a selection for us to choose from and purchase from the shop opposite. Special mention to Ioanna who was so friendly and up for a laugh she really made our holiday. Great Central location but quiet with a lovely small pool and pool area. Can't wait to come back!

I would use one word to describe this hotel -Paradise. We came as guests and the staff treated us so well, we left as friends. We had our wedding at the Bricia Du Mar and it was prefect. The location for a wedding is what we dreamed of. The hotel is low rise and like a little village with beautiful rooms and a stunning pool area. There is a fantastic gym and spa also. What Raquel, Pedro and everyone else did to help us was above and beyond what you would expect from a hotel. They say they are not wedding planners but what they did to help us arrange our wedding was incredible. This a family run hotel and you can see the care and attention they have to make the hotel a success as it is quite new. Everything is spotlessly clean and such a calming wonderful environment. Our wedding went without a hitch and the attention to detail was incredible. All the staff at our wedding were genuinely happy to be there from the chefs to the bar staff and waiters who couldn’t do enough for us. The Pelican Alvor was a lovely quiet hotel a 15 minute walk from Alvor Town centre. The room was the best we've stayed in for years, big spacious and had a kitchen area and separate bedroom area. Breakfast was OK but not brilliant. I was happy with toast and cereal, there was a limited cooked selection. We did sometimes find the English breakfast tea had run out. The hotel had a supermarket 10 minutes away which sold everything we needed. The hotel was very quiet and had no entertainment, luckily Alvor is close by and a taxi home was 5 euros. The pool area was OK but sometimes we struggled to get an umbrella for our loungers. Also the loungers on the grass meant the chance to get an insect bite for free. The staff were really friendly and we had drinks in the bar area. The hotel has a lovely quiet vibe and we are already booked to return next year.

I'll start with the positive. The hotel grounds are beautiful. It has a lot of potential. The drinks have a good selection and the pool staff are always around providing drinks.. We booked the hotel for a babymoon a last min trip for 6 nights. We arrived on Monday was allowed to use the facilities from the moment we arrived including food and drinks. We got to our room after three and whilst it appeared lovely on initial view it wasn't. We had blood on the floor from where someone had cut their foot on a door stopper blood on the under bedsheets. Ants in our room and the sink hadn't been cleaned. We called down and it took someone 2 hours to come and sort this out.. The buffet food is the worst I have ever experienced. Is say this is an upgraded child's menu nothing fancier then that. Mostly cold and the cereal was stale. Thankfully you can book into the Italian resturant and steak House which is what we did for every evening that was slightly better just more options would have been preferable.. however this is more edible then the buffet. They have a snack back for lunch time in addition to the buffet. 3 times the ice cream self service was broken and the ice cream was slushy. The bbq area was however nice. Food again needed improvement but I have learnt this is not really their thing. The pool... don't I booked this hotel mainly as it said heated pool.....no no it's not. Its not heated at all. The manager said that there was a broken component.... Well that's been broken for the entire time we were here. It was such a shame.alas you could get in the pool which was cold but once your in your in..don't expect that to be clean either. We haven't seen one person clean the pool or attempt to clean it.. I could deal with little stones and leaves and the flying bugs. But the woodlice looking things were my limit. I wouldn't even contemplate staying here again its a straight up no. It has SOOOOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL but the staff are overwhelmed and there is an obvious reluctance to put money into this to get it to a 5 star standard they are looking for. I'd suggest this is a 3 star resort maximum

Can't tell you how amazing this hotel is - we go to it every 6 months. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. Im ridiculously fussy and drive myself mad to be honest, I've always had issues with my childs health from he was little so we have always needed to bleach everywhere and travel with Dettol wipes and anti- mite plug ins and goodness what else but I have come to learn that i dont need to do this in this hotel, you could eat your dinner off the floor as we say in Belfast. We took my pops away this time with us because unbelievablyhe has never had a foreign holiday, and he's nearly 70 years old - he was blew away. Food is amazing - My son Jack has ADHD &Autism, and he is extremely fussy about his food, what it looks like, what it feels like, the textures, the colours. It's a nightmare, but he loves the grub at Vila Galé. There's never an issue. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, pool bar, Alá Carté restaurant, ”The Masafina”. There is so much to choose from. My daughter Annie loves the food too, she's usually eats like a mouse but eats like a horse when we stay here, haha. There's nothing better for a parent in my humble opinion, to see your children sitting down to lovely big plates of healthy food from all different continents. There's a spa, 3 different steam rooms, massage rooms, yoga room, a big Gym, jacuzzi, large heated indoor pool, tennis courts, golf course, splash pool Park especially for the children(and big kids ie: adults haha), volleyball pitch, football pitch, table tennis, adventure park, big trampoline (which is really good fun), fruit tree orchards, herb gardens, pool tables, darts tables. There's things I will be leaving out because they weren't as important to us. This hotel works hard for conservation, they grow their own fruit. There's olive trees everywhere all over the hotel grounds too. The grounds that surround the hotel span a couple of miles- it's a beautiful walk. Obviously they have an outdoor pool too, but you see it in the brochures and yes, it really does look that stunning. I should probably mention that the pool bar don't just do ”run of the mill” food- we are all vegetarians so we always get stuck with things that way. They do the most gorgeous veggie wraps, salads, veg burgers etc. The pool bar menu is stunning. The ice cream is Carté Ďor and they have an amazing sugar free range as a family member is a type 1 diabetic, which has led us all not to take sugary drinks. The public toilets are always in immaculate condition, always spotless, shining, soap, toilet roll. No problems there. Rooms are lovely too. Housemaid are amazing and do an amazing job. The restaurant staff are amazing. The hotel staff at reception are great too. I hope this review helps, I highly recommend the Vila Galé Lagos, Preia Meia, Portugal. Its expensive in some peoples opinion but- to me I always believe you get what you pay for and if my children are looked after and happy, that's all I want. I'm 100% happy. Excellent location. Very attentive, friendly and professional service. Spacious, well equipped and beautifully decorated rooms. Sensory SPA, it was a great and relaxing experience. Breakfast with several options to choose from and with a lot of quality. Great outdoor pools, one of them covered and heated for those colder days. Realy hard to get out of there! Activities organized by the resort, we chose a walk that was very worthwhile.
