The WiFi in our room was a bit sketchy so we asked to move rooms and they allowed us, the place was beautiful and the pool was really nice too.

The hotel has great potential and needs a major overhaul. It’s extremely tired and outdated and the decor leaves a lot to be desired. It quite a distance away from anything unless of course you desire extremely quiet getaways. There is absolutely no entertainment and a very small bar which is only open between 7pm and 11pm. All inclusive is not what you’d expect and food is limited with no choices as it is repetitive. There’s no options for tea or coffee on sight once the restaurant closes and the only drinks available are water coolers and paper cups. For bottled water they charge €2. The room I stayed in had a cockroach crawling around the floor and the bed sheets we not changed during the stay I know this due to a stain on the sheet since the start to finish of my stay. The cocktails from the pool bar are machine and really not that nice. There is a bus service from the hotel but you have to get there half hour before to get a ticket as it only has 7/8 seats. The staff were quite friendly and helpful but I would never return. No rep was seen any time during my stay. This has one to many stars as it is far from the luxury it’s made out to be. Alvor is a lovely place however the town of portimao is whey overpriced.

10 day break. Overall enjoyable having read reviews before arriving we had low expectations, however in general we found clean hotel and room serviced daily, very friendly and lovely bar staff, all other staff very helpful and polite. About 15/20 min walk to village of Alvor or taxi for about 6 Euros beautiful port with lovely walk to the sea, shops and many cafe/restaurant. THERE IS A COURTESY MINI BUS TO VILLAGE OR BEACH AT SET TIMES. A taxi to portimao is about 10 min from Alvor and costs about 10 euros each way. The few negative points for us were mainly when coach loads of people arrived although staff coped extremely well it was too many for the restaurant and the one and only operating bar by the pool. Queues and pushing from new guests could be over whelming. We were lucky that during our stay this only happened weekends but the rest of the time was perfect with great service. One thing to note is nothing to do with hotel but Jet 2. There was no rep present, although you do get a contact number . Also you get dropped off at the hotel along a path before The Yellow Garden. This isn't too bad walking with wheeled cases to the hotel as it's only a short walk and down hill but return is ridiculous considering you need to be at original drop off point for pick up half hour before and if, as it did on occasions rain, there is no shelter. Again although the walk is short its up hill and too far away to wait at hotel and quickly get to the coach when it arrives. The driver wouldn't see us behind the greenery between Pick up and our hotel. Can't understand why jet 2 coaches don't stop outside hotel when others during the week did . Overall lovely time

We was very disappointed with this hotel, there was no entertainment on at night so everyone was trying to get seats in the bar area which was very small, the meals was repatative and some times cold, very little choice, some staff was friendly but not many, cleaning was very minimal, it was not far to the town but very up and down hills, a taxi was only 4 euros, drop off and pick up was up two hills, and not at the hotel, animation team, well two off them did very little when they did show up, overall I think this hotel is only a 2 star

This accommodation I stayed in Yellow alvor garden is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, in the Algarve (Portugal) they claim to be a 4* hotel but on the jet2 site it says 3* in my opinion it should be 2* the staff are very rude and condescending very unhelpful. As a “4*” hotel they didn’t even have tea or coffee making facilities in the room nothing to drink in the rooms either would have to wait till breakfast for a drink or go all the way down to reception if you was thirsty in the night as they had a water dispenser there, the food wasn’t great was always lukewarm or cold until they topped it up was probably why I got food poisoning a few days in when I went to complain to the staff at reception I was told there’s no way that could be possible, denied it ever happened to me, being very rude and condescending. Housekeeping did the bare minimum when it came to cleaning the room also was met with paper cups in the rooms and in the restaurant for drinks and paper table cloths on the table when eating and last but not least on last day of our stay the lift broke down and was told we’d get help with our things if it was not fixed by the time we was leaving, not only did it not get fixed but we asked for help with our luggage got ignored and had to carry multiple pieces of luggage down 3 flights of stairs on our own, worst experience ever I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

We arrived around midday after being on the go from 3am. Initially, we were told that the all-inclusive did not start until 3pm, so there was no way we could eat or drink until then. Tired and annoyed we went upstairs to unpack. 15mins later the gentleman from the front desk knocked on the door to ask if we would like some food and drink brought up. A fantastic gesture that really turned around the start of our holiday. From then on, that seemed to be the theme of the break. The staff were always courteous and friendly. However, the hotel itself is really basic. The food was similar every day/night and was frequently cold, even after we had raised it with the front desk. There was “entertainment” (a man with a guitar and lady singing) on for the Friday and Saturday night only. Nothing on any other night. Absolutely nothing else to do in the hotel. There was nothing at all during the day – not as much as a pool table or table tennis for the kids to occupy themselves. The hotel is located a 10/15 minute walk from town, although it is cheap enough to get a taxi. The lack of any entertainment, activities or anything else close by made it a very dull week. Going for a week of All Inclusive food and drink with the family, I didn’t expect to have to head out and find things to do every day. As stated previously, the staff were excellent and are being really let down by the owners/management. Really disappointing week and definitely won’t be back.

Really had a comfortable stay at this resort. The room/bathroom although dated is spotless and cleaned daily if you choose. The Garden area has is fantastic and well maintained. The exterior has just been painted I seen it happen the interior must have been also painted recently cause it looked fresh and again spotless. The food anytime I visited was fine and never had an issue finding something, I didn't visit all the time cause I wanted to explore some dining and bars in the lovely town. Any staff I encountered where brilliant couldn't complain about any of them, in particular the bar staff at night I found to be extremely friendly. The only reason I didn't gave 5 stars is although comfortable the night time bar is not big enough if hotel is in full swing and to get a drink you would have to sit in exterior part and go upstairs to get a drink. One other watch out our transfer in was a minibus which was fine, but going out was a coach and I had to bring up 4 cases to the top of resort, which is quite a hill a few minutes walk if there is visitors with mobility issues this would need to be a concern. But quite simply put i had a fantastic stay in a clean friendly resort, with a choice of food with a lovely town which would be a 20 minute walk or 4-5 euro taxi, there is a complimentary bus in town but last run is at 1700 .

The hotel gardens are well kept and maintained. The pools were clean. We spent 4 nights here and the cleaners only knocked on 1 occasion at 5.30 in the afternoon when my partner and grandson were having a nap. No cleaning was attempted on any of the other days. The food is very repetitive and there is very little to no catering for children - although the cakes were nice. The evening entertainment was also disappointing and in all honesty rather boring (a gentleman singing and playing a keyboard- sometimes accompanied by a female singer) and the games room is very basic with just 1 pool table, an air hockey table and a tv. The night before our departure day I asked reception about our transfer as there was nothing in the jet 2 folder (nothing at all not just relating to our transfer) and the guy at reception rather abruptly said I should have that information already (all I had was an email and a text from her 2 saying the transfer information would be at the hotel reception 24 hours before departure) eventually after me sharing my dissatisfaction the receptionist located this information for me and brought this up to our room, which was nice of him. He advised we would be picked up at the entrance to the complex which was a fair walk with suitcases, bags and a 4 year old in tow under the sun only for it to transpire that our transfer drove past us and the driver had attempted to pick us up at the hotel reception. The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and worked extremely hard. The location of the hotel is not bad although it’s a bit far to walk in to the town if you have small children. It was my grandsons first holiday abroad and he enjoyed it which was the main thing but in all honesty I wouldn’t stay here again at the price we paid. Over all the service from jet 2 cannot be faulted and with a few tweaks this hotel would be hugely improved.
