Pestana Blue Alvor Beach - All Inclusive Hotel

We came here in 2015 and loved it. We decided to come back 2024 and it’s all been updated and I ha e to say looks amazing. The rooms are gorgeous and light. Location is also great right near the beach and short walk into the town with all the quirky streets with bars and restaurants. I will definitely come back here staff are lovely. My only down side not enough choice of food but overall a fantastic few days can’t wait to come back x

Nice hotel situated about 15 walk from Alvor centre. We booked a room with sea views, the room was clean and well maintained, nice views from the balcony. Food was a bit samey but allways something to eat, very busy at certain times. The pool bar is a queue system, first time I have seen this but it worked well. The lobby bar was a random system to get served,if you are a tipper you have a better chance of getting served. The mini bar in the room consists of a bottle of water and two small cartons of juice, any additional items are charged. The house keeping was hit and miss. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Pools. The adult only pool is great there were always bed available and there is a small self servise station for wine. Would I return NO

Overall, a nice hotel (probably 3.5/5 as someone else said), with great staff, which would be excellent all round with some minor changes. I’ll also say the weather was patchy during our stay, split equally between sunshine and torrential rain, which tends to influence any review! Upon arrival, after a near 2 hour coach transfer, it was clear our booking was missing, which was sorted quickly by reception, but also meant Tui hadn’t passed on our requests for a high floor room, a double bed, and a note that we were there for our wedding anniversary. We ended up on the very front of the hotel with a big double bed, and a pretty good view of the sea (which we had paid for anyway) and Lagos in the distance, but also only on the 3rd floor which meant we were on the very first tier of guest rooms, and just above Bubbles Bar. Fortunately for us the entertainment (the hotel’s term, not mine) finished at 11pm every night so we weren’t disturbed too much by the wailing from below. We didn’t get any special surprises for our anniversary, other than an afternoon of sun, but that was still a bonus! Onto some (hopefully) useful detail for others then, and apologies in advance for the length of this review. The bedroom was large and well furnished with a very comfortable bed, air con which we didn’t use, and a ceiling fan which ran silently to circulate air overnight without any disturbance. The patio was large with nice comfy chairs, a sofa and coffee table, and faced south-west so was lovely even when the weather was damp. The new patio doors kept out the weather and noise well other than the thumping from below. The bathroom was not so good, an odd shape, and despite a recent repaint was a bit mouldy in places and had a constantly running toilet and no forced ventilation. Guest services sent someone to fix the toilet but they failed in the task of a first-time fix – something that was very evident in other areas of the hotel as well. The staff overall worked really hard and were always obliging and happy to help with anything, but again as others have said are fighting a losing battle against the flow of guests. They simply need more staff in key areas, particularly the bars, with some big queues at times despite their best efforts to keep on top of things. Often it seemed one of the bar staff were off collecting clean glasses and more bottles from the store rather than serving – so simply having someone to help doing the general running around would make a massive difference. Cold drinks quality was generally excellent with branded spirits, nice beer, and reasonable wine, but it was sometimes a challenge to get the cocktails consistent (and even correct) due to the pressure they were operating under. No blame at all to the staff for that, and to be honest I tried a few things I wouldn’t normally drink as a result – so no issues for me. We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and it is the best all-inclusive hotel we have stayed at. Food quality and choice is excellent and, as well as very good wine and beer, there are cocktails and spirits such as Baileys freely available. If you are so inclined you could eat and drink from 7.30 am until 10 pm as there are snack bars as well as the main restaurant. There are 2 other restaurants that you can book. We went to them and they were a nice change but the main restaurant is more than enough and has lots of choice. The staff in the restaurant seem to be in perpetual motion clearing and relaying tables. Every member of staff we encountered was cheerful and friendly; a real asset to the hotel. Our room was cleaned daily. We had a very good sized room with a fantastic sea view and I was impressed with the size of balcony and quality of the balcony furniture. Loved the different pool areas, main, children's area and adults only. Something for everyone. We found it easy to get a sunbed as there didn't seem to be a morning rush to get one or any sunbed hogging-civilisation, indeed! The location is great. 5/10 minute walk to beach and lots of walks along the beach or the network of boardwalks that link to Alvor. Also a mention to the entertainment team in Coral bar. They work so hard throughout the day and evening and are a real asset to the hotel.

We’ve just got back from a lovely stay at the Pestana Blue. Check in was quick and easy, we were greeted with a glass of fizz and given our band so we could get some lunch whilst we waited for our room. We were there for our 35th Wedding Anniversary and were delighted to be offered an upgraded room with a balcony and lovely view, also a bottle of bubbly with 2 flutes and a smalll box of choc’s delivered to our room on the day which was a lovely touch. The food was great, lots to chose from at Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant , there is also a burger van by the pool and a cold lunch area next to the pool bar. The drinks were very good, lots to chose from (alcoholic and soft). We also ate in Luigi’s Italian restaurant, lovely food and great atmosphere! The staff are very friendly and are always there to help. Just felt that more bar staff were needed at Bubbles bar in the evenings. The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained. The lifts were great as they were linked to your room number so when you scanned your room card it took you straight to your floor. Pool area was spotless and always plenty of beds free. If you fancied something a bit quieter with a great view, you could go to the adults only pool. Air con was good and a ceiling fan if you wanted it too. If you fancied a bit of tv, there were a few English film channels to chose from. If you fancied it, you could walk to the town along a boardwalk down by the beach. There are a couple of bars on the way if you needed a pit stop. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Such a lovely clean and well presented hotel. Let’s start at the beginning. Check in was fast and friendly. The lifts take a little bit of working out but got there thanks to our 9 year old! The room was beautiful. Big and spacious, clean and bright. We had a sea view which was immense. Breakfast there is tons of variety and everything is really fresh. Lunch time we didn’t venture into the rest and used the little snack bar and pool side truck. Again the food was fresh and tasty. Dinner time again fresh and lots of choice. Heard people complain about the “kids” choice but that comes down to picky eaters. Our child found plenty to choose from. Staff are very friendly and really kind with the children. The pool is clean and tidy and no fighting for a bed lots of them free. Only thing is the parasol situation, you are limited to where you can sit if you want a parasol as there are holes in the ground so make sure you look for the hole if you require a parasol before settling down on your loungers. One little thing that could make the pool experience even better would be a little bar by the pool as you have to go back inside meaning if you get out the pool you have to dry off before being able to get a drink. The beach is clean and tidy and has some amazing rocks and caves to walk through. Bit of a steep hill back to the hotel but nothing too major. The mini disco is on at 8.30pm which is a little late for younger ones but the staff again try to get everyone involved. Would absolutely come here again.
