The Dirty Bottles Inn

Really enjoyed our visit to the dirty bottles, great atmosphere in this very old pub, read about the story of the dirty bottles in the window and the mysterious death of the last man who touched them. Great staff on hand to give advice on food. The food was excellent with a great selection of real ales call in give it a go. Book a table to avoid disappointment
The Tavern - Steakhouse and Lodge
3.6/576 Reviews
My husband Gaz and I are doing a two night stopover at Alnwick before heading further up north. We wandered around looking for somewhere to enjoy a decent cask ale and decided on the Market Tavern. Lovely warm friendly welcome from Michael, and we got seated and enjoyed a couple of tasty drinks. We witnessed lots of delicious platefuls of food being served and decided to book a table for this evening - so glad we did, food delicious and lots of hungry folk had to be turned away as it was fully booked. Despite it being busy we weren’t rushed, the food was yum as was the beer and Michael was the perfect host. I had the delicious Shepherds Pie and Gaz had the slow braised brisket which he too said was great Would be a shame if you were in Alnwick and missed out on this gem, book ahead if you can to avoid disappointment
White Swan Hotel

The seats are very good, very close to the castle, also in the city center, very close to the Morrison supermarket. There is a free parking lot, just turn left for two consecutive times, see the hotel name written on the white sign on the left, and then turn left. The aunt at the front desk has taught in China and also has grandsons of mixed Chinese and English, so I see Chinese people are particularly enthusiastic, the hotel restaurant is great, breakfast is a combination of buffet and order, which is relatively high-end. But the room is a bit old.
The Cookie Jar
4.7/579 Reviews
After seeing George Clarke talk about this fantastic boutique hotel, we knew we had to book an evening as we were travelling up to the east coast of Scotland for a wedding. A fantastic, central location with views of the magical Alnwick Castle, everything about this boutique hotel felt incredibly well thought out; combining high-class, expensive, quality furniture, while keeping a relaxed, genuine family-owned atmosphere. As soon as we arrived we had a friendly northeast welcome and the staff were incredibly thoughtful and helpful throughout our stay. In the evening, we sat down to one of the best 3 course meals we've ever tasted for my dad's birthday. A great array of choice on the menu and as the four of us all had different dishes, the fact we all described the food as delicious in every bite, is a fantastic compliment to the chef and their team. Within the room, the beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower was very impressive (and powerful water pressure, hard to come by usually in a hotel) and it was lovely to see that the hotel have fully embraced their history with a booklet of the story of 12 Bailiffgate in each room. It's not just the bigger things that have been done incredibly well, but it was the actual cookie jar filled with cookies that was the cherry on top of the cake. We will definitely be back! Thank you all.
