Centrally located near Alnwick attractions and shops, the accommodation provides convenient access. Guests appreciated the spacious, cozy rooms but were dissatisfied with the absence of breakfast and high prices.

Stayed here for a week while I saw family, and it is honestly the most lovely of places to stay. Staff were welcoming upon arrival, showed me around and protocol on how to access the hotel area of the pub once the pub was closed. Each room has its own unique name which is pretty cute, and the rooms looked amazing with such a wide space. Had an en-suite and very comfy bed, could feel no springs. Daily cleaner if you’re wanting new towels or a clean which is nice. The pub was very clean, and bar served a good range of drinks. There’s some local that came in while I was dining, which was nice to see. Also was an open mic night? That was pretty amazing, saw some great singing. Food was amazing too, the cheese and bacon burger was a great hit with me. Overall a great place to stay and 10/10 will be going back again in the future.

We visited in The Plough on the 4th of December, new management had just taken over and seemed to be left with a challenge of finding out how everything worked, but despite this nothing was a problem and looked after us very well considering the circumstances! We had the festive menu, everything was cooked and presented beautifully we all had a lovely afternoon. The new management take over can only be a positive change and would definitely recommend a visit. From The Pottergate Team :)

Stayed here one night and we won't be rushing back. Was met by a rather abrupt young lady who virtually barked the details at us. Entering the room it looked nice, 2 small windows facing the carpark.. so blinds were closed. The room wasn't very clean, lamp bulbs covered in dust, same as the headboard. Old wooden non matching toilet seat with a chip out of it, basin cracked and broken the same with the floor tiles. Radiator stone cold, but heated towel rail was hot so slept with the bathroom door open. Water stains on the ceiling.. Loose teabags ... obviously out of an open box. Strangely there is a Nespresso machine.. but no pods! Bedding was clean but bed way too soft for me. It's a shame because it has the potential to be very good but it let itself down.. wouldn't stay again.

Disappointing stay - no breakfast on offer and no explanation why from the member of staff I spoke to at check in. The Plough has a restaurant so why can’t they provide guests with breakfast? The room was £125 per night for room only which was too expensive for what they provide - the room looks tired and the shower water pressure was almost non existent. I would agree with previous reviewers that the fire exit arrangement for guests accessing after 10pm is far from satisfactory and the staircases to it are an accident waiting to happen. The whole place has the feel of being owned by people that have either given up or just want to do the basics - I won’t return.

No bar, no breakfast. Very very limited restaurant facilities. Front doors closed most of the time. Access to the bedroom was mainly limited via a fire exit and then down rickety slippery wooden steps. Very short staffed. I feel that this place misrepresented itself on its promotional advertising. Actually met the owner and voiced my disappointment with the hotel. He was clearly uninterested. It is however very close to Alnwick centre. AVOID.

Started badly with bed made into a double even though we called in advance to confirm it was a twin. They couldn't change it as they had no single duvets or sheets available. The duvet was also a very thick winter duvet even though it was May. The room was also incredibly hot and noisy wih the traffic from the street and thin walls. The room was very overpriced for what is offered and there isn't even breakfast available. The barmaid tried her best though. Avoid.

Despite the fact that it had changed hands in the previous few days, I was more than happy with my stay: the room was spotless, warm on a cold night, and the excellent Reese managed to organise a FEB for me, despite my having been told the previous evening that the kitchen would be closed. Would definitely stay there again. Only downside was that due to the changeover the restaurant was closed, but Alnwick is not short of eateries.

On arrival we checked in at the empty bar area. Taken to our room, the bonny lad by the staff. Room was so small that we with cases and the staff member couldnt all get in! Cosy/ boutique or just tiny? Initial thoughts were how disappointing. This only got worse after using the bathroom. Sink and floor tiles cracked, toilet seat broken and delamination, shower head holder broken ( replaced next day). Generally clean but with no curtains only blinds you get light in all night due to entrance after 11pm is via a rear fire escape which is lit and runs directly outside the window. Cobwebs and general filth behind the blinds are not what I'd expect at this price. We didn't eat any meals in the hotel as there's plenty of places to walk to for a better choice. Excellent position to explore Alnwick but needs a good clean and simple maintenance. Wouldn't recommend
