I'm not sure I could express how wonderful this place is! Gunta, the hostess is kind, friendly and very accommodating. Our rooms were immaculate and well stocked, plenty of storage for personal items, hooks to hang our coats on, places to put our luggage (not the floor), hair dryer hung in plain site, outlets well placed, good lighting. The description says there is a washer and dryer which is true, what it didn't say is that Gunta takes care of that as well. She washed, dried, folded and delivered our laundry to our door. She did offer us dinner as well and had 4 selections for us. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. We also had a lovely breakfast in the morning. We highly recommend this accommodation.

This place is a wee hidden gem, Gunta is an exceptional host. Everything was spotless clean and the bed was super comfy. The breakfast comes highly recommended too, honestly can't fault it. By far the best B&B I’ve stayed in. Definitely need a car though as it’s not next to any amenities.

Opposite of a warm welcome. Gutted as this is one of the positives mentioned most in reviews!!! We had booked this stay through buymeagift vouchers, and think host already had her 'back up' about this. The host made clear that she didn't think the vouchers were worth it and she was not to use them again, already making us feel a little unwanted. She was kind enough to offer the stay during her 'peak' season , with us agreeing to stay end of June mid week. I did check and the prices weren't too different, with her offering her own deals at this time. Before we arrived there was already issues, we paid an extra £165 on top of the two vouchers purchased ( £200) this was to have ensuite rooms and I think possibly breakfast, prices were not clear. Around a month after paying all these bits another £193 came out my account , without any fore warning!! I tried to contact and was told ' we are only human' and it would be 'dealt with when she returned to the property'.No real apology or recognition it was totally illegal. The money was refunded however and as my brother had specially been keen for alness, I decided to go ahead with the booking. I wish now I hadn't. On arrival we were greeted by the host coming out the door and stating ' it all happens at once' then advising she wanted us to move cars . She then moved her car to allow us to do so ( unsure why this want already done as she expected us to arrive). This was all before saying hello or welcoming us. I would point out we had come from Dundee and had a 2 year old, we had also read reviews, so expected a warm welcome! As soon as in the property it was clear that the space was clean and warm. The beds were large and looked comfy, although storage in the room minimal, only 5 hangers in open wardrobe. The surrounding area was peaceful and beautiful. Great location for the walks etc we planned. Reading about lots of lovely toiletries surprised me, as there was 2x large open tresemme shampoo and conditioner available. We were asked about what we wanted for breakfast and at what time 2x in the space of 1 hour of checking in. After popping some stuff down in the rooms, we went to the common area The host greeted us and asked if we had plans - having read reviews about their hospitality I asked ' no, do you have recommendations?' The host then stated, ' yes we have spent a lot of time on our website , look there' She then asked if we had booked somewhere in Inverness for food ( we said we were going there) again, I asked ' no, have you recommendation?' host stated they 'wouldn't know about Inverness, but to be warned places close early, not like in the south & (after checking lots of places were open last 9pm). The welcome was anything but warm. My brother, his wife and their 2 year old had come away on this trip for birthdays, with my brother being a Doctor, finding times to fit this in super tough, so we really hoped for a lovely chilled weekend together. Then came the kicker.. the host h

My partner and I won a weekend away at this delightful lodge, and it more than exceeded our expectations! Gunta was very warm, welcoming and hospitable, so much so that it felt like we were staying with a friend rather than a host, which was lovely. Her two dogs and cat were also very sweet and well behaved, and we quickly felt at home :) The lodge is brilliantly located - you really are in such a peaceful location, and we felt it made a great base from which to explore. The air is fresh, and there is no sound of distant traffic etc; one really is at peace here and away from the hustle and bustle! The room itself was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with all the amenities one would need: a big bed, TV with Netflix, a fridge (very handy), tea/coffee/biscuits, and many toiletries. We slept very well! The breakfasts were superb and there was lots of choice, and the portions meant that we never left feeling hungry before we set off to explore. As we were new to the area and had limited time, Gunta kindly created a GPS route for us so that we could take a road trip and visit key sites in the area and beyond, such as Dornoch, Dunrobin Castle, and Lairg. She also took us for a wonderful morning walk where we were able to discover the local woodland with her and her lovely dogs. These personal touches meant so much and she is very knowledgeable and passionate; we were able to explore without feeling like we needed to google everything! This was very kind of her and made our trip very memorable; I felt like I actually relaxed and switched-off from work, which I really needed. We would love to visit again (for longer!) and would highly recommend this lodge to anyone wishing to visit this part of Scotland; you will be treated so well and will definitely want to come back. On our walk from John o Groats to Lands End, Beechwood Lodge is, without doubt, one of the best places we have stayed. It is so comfortable, clean and dog friendly and the evening meal that Gunter cooked will live long in the memory. Absolutely delicious. We felt genuinely welcome and cared for. Thank-you!

Had a wonderful stay for two nights. Gunta was a wonderful hoste, very friendly and nothing was a problem. Our room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a dog friendly stay in the Alness area.

Food really expensive. We were offered dinner of chicken leg with veg. It was really tasty but there was virtually no meat on the legs! That was £18. I asked for 1 croissant at breakfast and was charged £8.50 for it which was ridiculous. We asked for a breakdown of our bill to be sent to us by email and have still not received it. Pleasant otherwise but I suggest you skip breakfast and evening meal for cheaper options.

A group of Irish bikers landed at Beechwood Lodge very hungry and very tired and Gunta made us an amazing steak dinner and we had the best night's sleep in beautiful rooms. By far, the best place we stayed on our trip - thanks!
